My Arkansas Grandson

We got a call from my stepdaughter in Conway last evening that their 18 month old son had followed his dad out of the house, without dad's knowledge, and was behind the car when dad backed out. He was not run over, but bumped hard enough to break his femur and crack his pelvis. He is doing better this evening, mom said he was eating and playing and smiling, even with a sica cast from chest to ankle (the wife looked it up on the internet).

He was sent this afternoon for an MRI because the dr didn't like the way his spine was lined up and was concerned about ligament damage in his neck. The MRI was clear so the neck brace came off.

Aimee said they should be leaving Children's in Little Rock tomorrow and head back to Conway and home. We thank God that this wasn't worse and this episode will be over in 6 to 8 weeks.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and prayers.

Mike

How scary! It's a good thing his dad was attentive and stopped! Your family has much to be thankful for. I'll pray for your grandson, his parents, and his medical team. May his recovery be swift and uneventful.

Mike, glad to hear it wasn't more serious than it was and that he is doing well considering his injuries. The Lord protected him and we will pray for a fast recovery.

These types of things can be scary. My in-law's neighbor has a granddaughter that was backed over by her Dad in a very similar situation years ago. Unfortunately she received a severe head injury and suffered brain damage from it. She has had to live with a moderate to severe learning disability and basically has the mind of 8 - 10 year old, even though she is 24. Great young lady, just not self sufficient enough to live on her own and take care of herself, so has to live with Mom and Dad.

Charles, my heart sank when the wife was talking to Aimee Monday night.

Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers!

And also an update. The wife e-mailed me this afternoon and they were on their way back to Conway from Little Rock. She also said that he would only have to have the cast on for 3 weeks or so. The good news keeps coming!

Update: My grandson got his cast off today! It sounds like things are about back to normal.

But a week after the grandson in Arknasas got his cast put on, I got a call from my daughter in Minneapolis. Her daughter had jumped or fell off a trampoline. Alice was complaining about her leg hurting. They took her to the Dr. on Monday morning and found 2 hairline fractures in her left tibia. She has a couple of weeks to go on her cast.

The other daughter in Grand Prairie was considering not letting her 3 boys out of the house until school starts!

It's been a rough month for my family!
