Welcome to the 10mm club. The few, the proud, the broke. Just kidding, its not that bad. Usually around the price of .45acp. Double Tap is it for 10mm. Midway and sometimes double taps website is cheaper, depends. I have the 20 but I have never shot the 29. Seems most guys run 155-175 grain for carry. I like the 165 gold dot in DP and the always trusty 175 winchester silvertip. I wouldn't run over 165 grain in double tap for carry though. I have seen the 200 grain XTP go clear through a feral hog like butter and wouldn't be surprised if the 180 grain did the same. Have fun!!

Have one as my main carry and love it. Ammo hard to find but cheaper than dirt got 10 boxes for about 21 each shipped with tax. Ordered on a Sunday afternoon and recieved it tue before my lunch brake.

I have wanted to ask you fellers that have the 10mm and also the .357 Sig what in the world you do for practice ammo? I would love to have either one just for the cool factor of the rounds but I rarely if ever see boxes of it just sitting on the shelves at Walmart or Academy. This is the one and only reason I don't have either. I do have a .40 Glock that I think I can put a .357 barrel in... but again.... no ammo availability scares me away.

I use to order online. Then my favorite vendor shot his prices up. Even online I don't see the 10mm and .357 Sig offered a lot. I guess when you find it you just have to stock up heavy.

Online!! That’s about it. Every once and a while I will see it at a shooting range and it is way overpriced and its usually Federal ammo which is just .40 cal velocities. For the guys who just shoot 10mm, most reload. A lot of hunters or mountain hikers carry them. They seem to be quite common in the Pacific Northwest and a friend in the Navy says it is easy to find in Washington state. I love the 10mm but for personal protection the .45acp and .357 mag are just as good and easier to find. Shot placement is more important at that point. I think the only thing keeping the .357 sig alive is law enforcement. Penetration in a .35 caliber bullet is what it is made for. I think the Texas state troopers still carry them and the Secret Service but that was several years back. I never really understood its purpose. Recoil is almost as sharp as the 10mm in a gun like a Glock. At that point just get the 10mm!! But to each their own. One things for sure; 9mm,.40S&W and the ever trusty .45acp are here for the foreseeable future in semi-auto.

I ordered 300rds of Rem UMC from cabelas, and 200 rds from double tap to start out with. Got a gox of them' 200gr WFHC bullets that are supposed to penetrate 30something inches in calibrated phonebook.

Remington is good plinky ammo for 10mm. You can start to tell it is 10mm. The Federal American Eagle 180 grain 10mm is easier to shoot in my Glock 20 then Federal American Eagle 180 grain in my fathers .40 in a Glock 22. It is a joke. Don't waste your money. DO NOT buy the blazer aluminum. Do a search and you will see my report on it. I know many use it but just check my old post from last fall and you will see what I mean. Gunsmith who fixed my gun says he has seen many problems with it in 10mm. Most problems are in higher pressure semi-autos like the 10mm. I also have a box of hardcast double tap rounds. When I go hunting or camping in west Texas I bring this stuff along. Some of the guys in bear country swear by this stuff and several including Mike at Double Tap say it has taken black bear. This stuff penatrates like crazy!! My friend has shot several various types of game and has never recovered the lead or any part of it. Serious stuff. If you decied to shoot a lot of the hardcasts you should invest in an aftermarket barrel like the KKM or bar-sto that is supported. I wouldn't shoot more then a clip before cleaning the stock barrel. This stuff leaves alot of lead in the barrel. There is some good info on glocktalk about aftermarket barrels with hunters over there but the stock barrel is fine just clean it after you shoot the hardcasts or if you go down to the range shoot a clip after all your other ammo.

Some chrongraph numbers from about 5 years ago:

10mm Double Tap loads out of stock Glock 29 barrel.

135 grain JHP: 1,481 fps

165 grain Gold Dot: 1,302 fps

180 grain Golden Sabre: 1,247 fps

200 grain XTP: 1,137 fps

220 grain cast: 1,028 fps

FWIW, I owned lotsa Glocks and they've always eaten just about anything I've fed em. But, for whatever reason, this gun would not run reliablly with the Remington Golden Sabres.

Have a Glock 20 that I just bought> My first Glock and I love it. For Double Tap I use 180 controlled exspansion 1350 fps and 675 ft lb energy for hunting back up. For self defense I would recommend the 125 grn per Double Tap advive. Ballistics 1600 fps 710 ft lbs from a Glock 20.

Has 14 inches of penetration after going through 4 layer of denim and 2 layers of cotton. They clame its probably the best self defense round out there. It uses the Barnes Xp_tac all copper bullet. We all know how well the 125 grn 357 mag does a man stopper well here is the same set up with more speed and energy. Range reports claim its a awesome round with a sound that you have to hear.

I have already shot the 165 grn Double Tap 1420 fps 725 ft lbs and it was easy to shoot. Recoil was very mild for a 10mm.

Range Update:

Amazingly soft shooting for the power behind it, though it made my BHP seem like a .22

No issues except a few times with a full mag insteted and when I pulled back the slide to drop it and it wouldn't chamber the first round, but Tap, Rack, Fire got them in (I'm sure it was my fault because it had no issues after the first round went in).

The 10mm did empty out the room I was shooting in at Bullet trap, gotta love the fireballs. Rem. UMC ammo seemed pretty warm to me even when compared to the DoubleTap loads.

Overall a wonderful gun, would trust it with my life.

I just picked up a 20C. I really like the 10mm a lot. I picked up some Hornady 180 gr XTP just to hang on to till I get some Double Tap myself. I polished the barrel on my 20C and it really looks sweet. Id like a 29 myself.
