Basil Marceaux looks, and sounds, like an instant winner...of some sort of Darwin Award.

After watching the video, I have to suspect that Mr. Marceaux's elevator doesn't service the penthouse suite........

"I'd like to plant grass or vegetation across the state or any vacant lot, and sell it for gas so we can use it for our expenses."
It's not a "bad" idea, if you set up the "State Agency of Watering Grass and Vegetation" or the "SAWGV" to care for the grass. Funding for such an agency should only be in the tens of millions of dollars. It would only take 20 years or so of raising grass to pay for the initial founding of the agency.

Well, at least he's pro gun...
God bless him for running though. He's at least got the guts to try to make a difference. I don't think you'll see anyone else in politics that would stand behind their beliefs better than this man. I honestly think he's the most qualified politician I've ever seen. Elect him, how much worse of a job could he really do?

All they have to do is sit back and let the Kudzu take over.

Basil Marceaux may have descended from the same gene pool that hired Lane Kiffen to be head coach of the UT VOLS...for one season.

Kennesaw, GA (just outside Atlanta) requires gun ownership.

I almost took a job in Atalanta a few years back - Kennesaw was one of the suburbs we looked at for housing. I did not know about this though.

Sounds like he wants to copy Kennesaw, Georgia. Though I have been told that the few people in town who don't own firearms have not ever been fined.

I lived in Kennesaw for a while after this law was passed.
The intent of the law was to point out the individual's responsibility to provide for his own protection, and to deter crime by publicizing the determination of that town's citizenry to actively resist evil. Although a fine was provided for because an ordinance of that type required some type of penalty, there was never any intent to drag folks into court for failure to comply and no attempt was made to impose fines.
It worked. Burglary in Kennesaw dropped to zero for the year following the passage of the law, and stayed low for years. I don't know what the current experience is, but the message clearly got through to the intended audience.

Sound familiar?
