Forum friends and visitors:

I'm using a borrowed computer that doesn't work like mine, so I an unable
to post the links to the Academy ad.

But use this navigation:
http://www.academy.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; / Weekly ad / then go to pages 21 and 23.

Academy's sale on this large, varied set of handguns is valid from
August 8 through August 14, 2010.

I find an interesting pricing situation on page 23, to wit:
If you buy the Taurus Slim 709 in the upper part of the page
you get only the gun for $389.99.

But if you look lower on the page, you can pay $359.99 for the same
gun and they'll throw in a Taurus range bag. Great deal - pay $30 less
and get the range bag!

Happy shopping all you shootists. :-)

The Sig SP2022 for $399 is extremely tempting. In fact, I would feel guilty letting this deal pass.

Is there anything anyone can say to dissuade me from buying this gun? I've heard good things about this gun thus far.

I'm apparently headed to Academy this evening. I need a bolt-action centerfire rifle (really the major last niche I have left to fill) and the Savage Stevens 200 for $180 is too good to pass up. I'm thinking .270 would be a good, all-around caliber, although I may buy it in .30-06 instead.

The Sig Pro series are underrated guns and for $399 are really tempting but I really don't need to spend money on another handgun right now. Plus if I buy another handgun I have to buy a holster and extra magazines too, and that could start getting expensive.

That Savage Stevens 200 looks like a great value.

Am I blind? I'm not seeing that in the ad? What page is it on?

IIRC, it WAS on page 21...now there's a rifle-sized blank area on that page. It looks like they updated the ad...wonder why?

Too good to be true?
Misprint?

I wonder if you get a paper copy and take it in, if they'll still honor it.

If not, get a paper copy and take it to any store that price matches! :thumbs2:
Anyone got a paper copy I can borrow? "rlol"

The Sig 2022 is a great gun, it is my wifes favorite shooter. At that price I would be surprised if they last very long, IMO a 2022 should be in everybodys range rotation.

I shuffled on down to Academy and bought one of the SIG 2022s. It looks and feels good the DA trigger is awesome and the SA is almost as good as a 1911. I think I'm going to like this gun. Now, go shoot the darn thing.

The gun counter at the store I went to (59 and Kirby in Houston) had a hard copy of the ad, so no problems with that.

They said they still had plenty in both calibers. Apparently they bought a bunch before "Black Friday" and have been having trouble moving them.

I got one in .270 as well as a Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x40 (marked down to $150 from $200)--all told, out the door for under $350 for rifle and scope.
