A Snail's Pace Is Faster, Believe Me!!

Hello All!

I am new to the group, and I am proud to be a part of you!

I will try to be brief and to the point. If you have waited a couple weeks for info on your CHL... that's nothing! Try 5 weeks before I received the letter, and it's been another 2+ weeks in the "processing" stage. Here's the condensed story:

I went to CHL class on August 5th. Sent my paperwork in the next week. Waited 2 weeks, then called to see if they received it. The lady there (a very nice and overworked lady at that) told me that they were at least 4 weeks behind and that they had received - year-to-date - over 8000 applications! So I waited another 3 weeks with no word. So I called again. This time the lady couldn't find any paperwork on me, and nothing had been entered. She asked for my CHL App # and said she'd call me back with any info. **NOTE** Just a suggestion... keep your CHL App # readily available. That's the only number that will really help you out in this process. Anyway, she did call. She found it and said that they were entering it in. All was good, and she apologized for the length of time it has taken but they were only on August 14th. That was two and 1/2 weeks ago. So they are running approx. 4 weeks behind. I finally received my letter a week and 1/2 ago with my pin #. My app is still in the "processing" stage like I said earlier. Let's hope that I receive my actual CHL before Thanksgiving! Just kidding. I should have it in hand NLT mid-Oct.

Well... that's my story in a nutshell. I will take time to read others stories as time permits.

Chat at ya'll later!

Welcome aboard, Patriot. Glad to have you here. Waiting for the plastic in the mail is the hard part, huh? Read some different posts, there are lots of suggestions as to what to do to pass the time. I believe Diode suggested at one time to pull up a lawn chair by the mailbox and relax!

Hey JLaw...

That's too good!

Pretty much what one has to do it seems. Reminds way too much of the military... "Hurry Up And Wait!"

Patriot-
It is always nice to see a new neighbor on the forum! Good luck with your wait. I hope you get in a great deal of practice around the house before it arrives. A couple of months carrying around the house safely makes for wonderful practice. Have a great day.

Perhaps this has something to do with the Katrianians who have allegedly threatened violence if their free rent goes away.

I heard there was an influx of new CHLs this year from places affected by the evacuations.

I wish you luck on getting it by no later than Mid Oct. I took my class in Mid June and mailed all in a week later & I am still "Processing"! I was real optimistic at first but with all of the Katrina crime & new applicants I would thing by end of Nov for you would be more realistic. Good luck anyway.

smschulz... don't tell me that! Ugh! That's horrible! Hopefully they'll get with the program and git'r done. On second thought... it is the Gov't afterall.

jbirds... you are right. I have several friends and friends of those friends that are getting their CHL for just that reason. The "evacuees" need to be evacuated back to New Orleans. Of course, that's just this concerned citizen's opinion. But when the murder rate goes up almost 20% city-area wide, and is more than doubled in other inner-city areas... somethings WRONG! And our honorable Mayor isn't doing much to help. He is "encouraging" them to at least get a job. OY!

I am personally getting mine for a multitude of reasons. Of which is the evacuees, but also the influx (or should I say invasion) of our southern border. I am convinced that those wanting to do harm to this nation are coming over the border and are poised just south of the border waiting for the right moment. Also, I just want to be a good Constitutionally armed citizen that will have the legal ability to help folks out.

NOTE: If you guys haven't read Pat Buchanan's book "State of Emergency"... get it! It's GREAT! Full of info you may not find any where else.
