Report on Kingston holster

Today we left Texas headed to North Carolina to visit my wife's family. Last night I "installed" the DeSantis Kingston holster in the Caravan in preparation for the trip. Having driven with it all day, I can say that I like the location, and the holster definitely hides the gun from view. However, the weight of the gun made the holster shift throughout the day. It kept dropping closer to the floor and farther away from my hand, making it less useful than I would like. (The belt wasn't getting loose. It was actually shifting rotationally.) I'm going to try looping the belt around several lateral bars under the seat to (hopefully) prevent the shifting. I'll update this post with the results after tomorrow's drive. Today was 700 miles. Tomorrow is only half that, but it should be enough to judge if I got it fixed or not.

Tranfering the handgun and magazine from the Kingston to my bellyband was easy and non-obtrusive, so I was able to arm before leaving the car when we stopped without anyone in other fuel bays or parking spaces noticing what I was doing. All in all, I think it was a good purchase, but I need to fix the shifting problem. The gun is still reachable after shifting. The problem is that the movement to retrieve the gun becomes more obvious as it drops closer to the floor. It needs to sit right between my legs, within reach without any obvious movement.

Wrapping the belt around a rod twice helped but didn't entirely solve the problem. I'm thinking I need to either put some velcro on the seat or find a way to anchor the belt so it won't move.
