I workout about 5 days a week and sometimes I go very late. I do not feel comfortable leaving my gun in the car or at home.

I usually put in the front pocket of my workout bag and take it inside.
I leave the gun in the bag and lock the bag in a locker.

Am I techically breaking any laws or what issue do I have to worry about ?

I was thinking nothing because, I am a CHL and I am leaving it CHL and it is locked up.

I guess I could get in trouble for leaving it the locker locked but what is difference between a locker and my truck.

I think it is less likely to be stolen in the gym than in the car.

People know me very well at the gym.

I can't address the legality issue of a gun in your gym locker but I would be more comfortable with the gun in my car/truck than the locker.

This will take some of the worry about leaving your gun in the car. It is not theft proof, but they will have to work hard for it. I suppose a fanny pack would work for you as well...not my thing, but neither is the gym lately

You are correct but I have had problems leaving the gym going to my car.

That is why I feel the need to carry between the gym and my vehicle.

I have had two close calls with jerks (Mex gang members) trying to pull something on me.

I never pulled but they followed me to my car walking several feet behinde and going in between cars.

I always thought they were totally crazy.

I guess they never heard of survival rule number 101:

Never mess with a guy after working out for 4 1/2 at the gym loaded up on No-xplode.

Locked in the locker should be just fine, even better if it's your lock on the locker.

If there is no 30.06 compliant sign on the gym, then you are fine carrying the gun in your gym bag.

So long as the locker is truly secure (i.e. not merely a plastic lock on a thin wooden door, etc.) then you shouldn't face any realistic potential of violating TPC §46.13 (“making a readily dischargeable firearm accessible to a child� [> 17 yrs. old]). If you really want to be "legal," remove the mag. and the round from the chamber, then the gun isn't "readily dischargeable." Another alternative is to leave the gun loaded, but simply snap a trigger lock on it while it's in the bag in the locker. (Putting a trigger lock on a loaded gun meets the statutory requirement for securing the firearm.) No one will hear the slide being racked back and you can remove the trigger lock before you leave the locker room to go home.

I will unload in one of the stalls and when I leave reload in the stalls.

For what it's worth. A few locks were cut off lockers where I go to the gym and the lockers were robbed.

You might want to get a lock that has a protected hasp. One they can't get at with the bolt cutters. That's what I bought after I found out about the problem.

Butt pack might work, I've seen several people wearing them in the gym.

Why don't you just wear it in the gym using fanny pak, smart carry, etc?

I've bought a few of those "secure-it" safes...They were all keyed alike...

Came in handy for my Dad when he transited Kansas recently...
