There are several assertions on the Internet indicating Costco’s corporate policy prohibits concealed carry by its members. Does anyone have verifiable evidence to as to whether or not this is true? Most importantly, does your local Costco in Texas have a legal 30.06 posting at the store entrance? If so which location? I'll be checking the Southlake store this week.

I don't recall seeing any 30.06 signs in either of the ones I visited in Houston.

If I recall, when the Southlake store first opened they had some kind of "No Guns" sign, but it was quickly taken down after a few people talked to them.

There is no 30.06 sign at the Southlake Costco, nor is there one at the Lewisville Costco, both of which I frequent.

They have the standard T.A.B.C. sign regarding unlawful carry by unlicensed permit holder....which of course does not apply to CHL holders.

As to whether there is anything in the membership agreement, as had been alleged by the Las Vegas/Sumerlin Costco "management/security", heck I don't know, I never got one nor read anything. Payed my admission and shop there occasionally. Carry there all the time.

I've carried into the Southlake store a number of times, and I've never seen any signs. And there is no way that they could enforce such a policy. People would simply take their business to Sam's Club.

I am interested to see what happens next Wednesday in Las Vegas in regard of Costco Incident. Does not look good as the it was said if there was a criminal shooting, the LEO shooter would have been aresested by now. Most likely a bla bla bla meeting to satisfy formalities.

Erick's Dad for sure would not be a happy camper and will not let it go. A Federal suit and/or investigation would be asked.

No signs at all that I've seen.

I did my first Wally walk at the local Costco in honor if Erik Scott. The was a sign prohibiting unlicensed firearms.

No problems carrying in San Antonio area Costcos.

My Costco membership expired about the time of the Erik Scott shooting. I just let it expire and moved all my business to Sam's. I had pretty much stopped shopping at Costco since they never had everything I needed and ended up having to go to Sam's anyway. Its also tough to believe that Costco (at least here in Austin) closes at 6 PM on Saturday. That one cost them the sell of a 55" TV and blueray player.

The Costco in Las Vegas wasn't posted either. The blog Erik's father is writing mentions a 20yr old security guard who said something to the police when he called that caused them to send out the cavalry and the evacuation of the store. With no 911 tape released, we don't know what it was, but it had to be inflamatory. I suspect any of us could come across someone just as stupid and just as willing to embellish a call to the police to make himself feel quite important in his moment of power whether that place of business was posted or not.

Here are a couple of links that question Costco’s corporate policy toward CHL holders that caught my attention. I am aware of the Vegas incident and remain neutral pending the outcome of the judicial system review. If I find hard evidence of Costco banning CHL’s than I am taking my money elsewhere. Dang, I was eyeballing a safe they have on sale too.

Here in Ohio we've had the same hot and cold reaction from our local Costco. For a while they were not posted, but then enough idiots felt it worth asking the manager if guns were allowed that a sign eventually went up. Then they'd come over to the ohioccw forums and talk about the great public service they were doing by letting everyone know Costco's policy. Then it was down and then back up again. At some point they had to repaint the wall where the sign was and it didn't go back up. One guy came on the board saying he'd ask about it next time he was there and he was not so ceremoniously told to keep quiet about it.

My personal philosophy is that I don't patronize places that I know are anti-2A even if my local doesn't happen to be posted. We got a gift membership to our local BJ's which is just down the street and haven't looked back since.

As for the Vegas store incident I wouldn't necessarily trust anything that a security guard says. Just last weekend I was assisting on a disorderly conduct while intoxicated call at our local outdoor mall. The guy decided to struggle when it was time to get in the car so he got taken to the ground. Meanwhile one of the mall security guards (a 19 year old) is screaming at us that it is totally unnecessary and we don't need to manhandle him and so on and so forth. At one point it looked like he might try to physically intervene. I came this close -><- to throwing the cuffs on him and stuffing him in my cruiser. Come to find out later he's going to be fired from the mall any day now because shortly after he was hired he was arrested for underage consumption in a neighboring city and neglected to tell his employer of that fact.
