I've been censored and it upset me

I enjoy other things besides guns <gasp>, one of these is camping.

So I also post on the rv.net forum.

I posed a response outlining the qualities that a CHL has such as in this thread:
http://www.rv.net/forum/index.cfm/fusea ... page/2.cfm

1) over 21
2) no felonies
3) not dependant on drugs or alcohol
4) not behind on child support, or taxes
5) noting more on my record except a minor traffic ticket or two
6) cleared by the FBI and the State of Texas to prove that I'm a law-abiding citizen.
etc

It was deleted.......

So I posted another post simply stating I was censored!

It was deletd as well.

Boy that burned me.

It would seem to me that your RV is your home when you're not in your house. The subject of firearms and personal security ought to be a very real concern to RV'ers. But those who moderate the forum, obviously, have other ideas.

It outrages me that you were censored.

I experience that a lot when I leave comments at katv.com (ABC station in Little Rock).

Not about concealed carry issues... but some of the most innocent comments about the story will get yanked. Once I got deleted from an article about a pit bull ban, when I asked why they were using a picture of a Rottweiler for their graphic.

I notice that "RVsnowbird" has no problem leaving the anti-gun comments up!

Unfortunately, the way it works is, someone owns that website and they can sensor it however they wish. If the owner of this site said "Noone can speak of Springfield XD", he or she is very well within their right....I just wouldn't visit anymore ;-) .

I have run a couple of websites and wasn't harsh on censoring anything....just stupidity.

I would stop visiting that forum. It sounds like they're hostile to your ideas. Now if their speech were being denied, you'd hear about it for sure.

As a private board, free speech may not exist there if that is the owner's wishes. I respect that as I do not want my free speech infringed elsewhere.

Again, its all about the "spirit" of the board. You have to remember, VERY few other boards have a core member group as respectful, friendly and mature as this one enjoys.

Yeah, some people just don't get it. Fortunately if you're on this forum, you probably get it. I just hope those RV folks don't learn it the hard way.

True!
I enjoy this forum for the maturity level, and have thanked Charles privately for hosting it!

Truly Russ, you can't compare what you have here to most other Forums.
I can't point to anyone here that posts contrary or downright offensive posts just to 'get a rise' out of others. Funny thing is, those same posters (my experience) get absolutely livid if the table gets turned.

Sorry, but what you experienced is what I consider 'the norm.'

Thanks for the replies, I appreciate it.

I PM's Snowbird this:
russ wrote:When is the proper time to discuss self defense for people who full time RV, when the RV is their home and while traveling one needs to know and be informed.

It might be to one advantage to be able to defend one's self while over-nighting at a Wally-World parkinglot. You never know who's going to be up to no good at one of those, or at a roadside rest area.

In a normal camping ground--there is probably not much of an issue, but traveling to and from certain areas things can be dicey... I've been there before.

I really don't understand your censorship of my reply. It was truthful saying that I have no felony's--ever! I don't do drugs/alcohol--ever! I've been checked by the FBI and cleared for being wanted for anything anywhere.

Can most people say the same?

Russ
to which Snowbird replied:
Snowbird wrote: the topic you replied to that was deleted was out of line. It had absolutely nothing to do with 2nd amendment rights.

Though I am sympathetic to the cause, there has not been a successful gun-related topic that lasted more than a day because it is controversial. Because it is a non-rv topic, most are moved to the Around the Campfire forum where it will ultimately suffer the same fate.

I would suggest another forum such as http://www.thehighroad.org where such issues are openly discussed.

....RVSnowbird
At least he/she suggested some place where 2A rights can be discussed. I'll give that a try!

Sorry about your other forum I had something similar on another gun forum and I just left and never went back. My wife and I have a Fifth Wheel and we enjoy it a lot. Since I have been sick I have not been able to go and miss it an awful lot.

At least RVSnowbird DID recommend one of the best national - as opposed to Texas specific - interest firearms-related forums around. Moderators at http://www.thehighroad.org generally delete postings only if they veer strongly off-topic, blatantly transcend the bounds of good taste, or advocate criminal activity.

The owner of a forum can control speech within that forum just as surely as the owner of a home can control who is admitted to that home.

I don't mind RVSnowbird keeping things on topic, especially contentious political issues not directly related to RVing. He/She didn't seem personally uncomfortable with guns.

But I have a hard time accepting the judgement of an neutral moderator who deletes pro-gun posts, but leaves anti-gun posts in place.

This is the only board I respond to. I do appriciate the forum and the people who use it. There is a tremendous amount of information and good will here. We should all thank Charles for hosting it.
