I'm thinking about buying a Lasermax guide rod laser for a Glock 19. How durable is it? Does it really shoot accurate to +/- 2 inches at 20 yds? What are you personal experiences? (Please, no armchair opinions without personal experiences. Thanks). Do you have to install it yourself or is there a good DFW dealer that will install for you?

Side by side I prefer CT. Brighter and sturdier IMO.

Im willing to bet similar opinions will follow.

Simple to install if you can replace the takedown lever spring. which isn't very hard. But any Glock gunsmith will do it for you I'm sure.

No durability problems with guide rod lasers on the 27 I had nor the 26 I carry, nor on the Taurus PT92 I used to qualify..

(I have a CT on my 19 that I leave at home, but no holster to fit it that I really like with that extra attachment.)

The CT gets un-adjusted, I guess it's the vibrations or something and needs adjusting sometimes.

The Guide Rod lasers are always adjusted since they are parallel to the barrel.

Messy dirty carbon can build up on the lens after shooting a while, but wipe or spit and wipe clears it quickly.

I had one on the G-26 for daily carry. I was not impressed with the accuracy or durability. They were really nice about the warranty, but it would shift aim depending on how it was put back into the frame after cleaning. I also had some problems with the on-off switch not functioning. The cover for the battery compartment must be installed just right each time. A bit too fiddly for my taste. I finally concluded that if after cleaning, the pistol was fired, the laser seemed to return pretty much to correct aim point. Since then I have installed a CT grip style and been much more satisfied. I did discover that the laser bump on the right side of the frame really beats up the thumb joint on a left handed shooter. Seems to fit in a standard holster OK, even on left side. At some point I will have to replace it with the newer style that replaces the rear sight.
