Nah, but you must know the difference in an 8" floppy and a tape :biggrinjester:

LOL, Quit making me feel old, you guys remember setting dip switches or jumpers prior to "plug-n-pray" too huh?
(Reminds me of trying to explain to my daughters what an "LP" was on a "record player")
Ask a youngster what "UMB" is nowadays and instead of saying Upper Memory Blocks they'll guess:
Ultra Mobile Broadband
University of Maryland, Baltimore
University of Massachusetts Boston

Do not Fold, Spindle or Mutilate

Changing Disk Packs

8", 5 1/4", 3.5" floppies... (What the heck is a floppy anyway?)

Go Load this Tape. (paper or magnetic)

Winchester Drive...

DSD 880

DOS v.1.0

Ok, guess I've embarrassed myself enough...

Don't make fun of punch cards, they make great scratch note cards on the back side, so long as they haven't been punched yet.

I was working for an insurance company in the late 80's and we still used the punch cards for one set of batch jobs that had not yet been converted to JCL. IBM would no longer service our machine, so we paid one of their techs on the side. These jobs ran once a year, and when the job scheduler called for them, we in Operations complained that it had not been converted. But the job had to be done by the end of the week, so not enough time for a programmer to convert it. I was later told this happened this way every year, with promises to convert it. But after it ran, it fell off everyone's priority list. The batch jobs - The annual stockholder's report.
