Really considering the purchase of the 3" Kimber. My only concern is the rust issue I've read about, especially during the summer of sweat months. Now I understand general maintenance issues So, please rest my fears as I really would like the Kimber 45? Thanks in advance to all those that respond.

Rust is not a problem if you go with the Stainless/Aluminum model. Well worth the extra $.

I have it's big brother, the Stainless Pro Carry II. I don't worry about rust.

I carry a Kimber Ultra CDP II that had some surface rust on the muzzle and the outside of the chamber where it's exposed through the ejection port when I bought it at a gun show.
A little gun oil and some steel wool took care of it.
As for the rest of the pistol, it has an aluminum frame and SS slide. No worries.

I had issues with my Ultra Carry rusting. I was going to have it Durcoated but ended up selling it instead.

I'm a sweaty fat pig, and I carry a Stainless Ultra Carry II with some regularity during summer months, and I've never had an issue with rust. Ever.

Have carried the Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry II for the last 5 months in a Crossbreed SuperTuck with no problems of any kind as to rust. I do wear a t-shirt between me and the holster(tucked in denim shirt) and it gets quite wet but does not get on my firearm. Love the Kimber and the SuperTuck.

My Eclipse Pro would rust under the grips. It became too much trouble to remove the grips after each day of carry.

For IWB, I use a
Minotaur MTAC. For OWB, I use a
Galco Concealable Belt Holster.

These guys have the answer in the stainless models. I carry a full-size Custom TLE RL II (not stainless) in an OWB holster when the weather starts cooling off and just make sure I wear a good wicking T-shirt between me and any metal contact. Rust has never been a problem. My OWB holster looks like the Galco TAM listed above.
