CORPUS CHRISTI -- Corpus Christi police say a 14-year-old boy shot and killed a man who broke into his family's home and threatened him and his mother on Tuesday.

The man, whose name wasn't released, confronted a woman as she was carrying groceries into her home, Police Chief Bryan Smith said.

The man forced her inside and tied her and her son up.

The woman was able to loosen the binding and free her son, who got his father's revolver from a security box beneath a bed, Smith said.

The suspect tried to break into the room where the two were and threatened to kill them both -- then the teen fired a shot through the door, Smith said.

The intruder was shot in the head.
Sounds like a good - no, make that GREAT - shoot to me. Hope the kid isn't too stressed out . . . or made that way by state-employed shrinks.

I can't really remember, but when I was 14 I don't know if I would have had the maturity to understand what I had done in this situation. As a child these days, the games played are in a sense, desensitizing these young people. He may very well have been acting as he has been "trained".

On the other hand, since he knew where and how to get to his father's revolver, he may have simply had the proper instruction and knowledge taught to him on how to deal with a situation such as this.

In either case, as long as the kid stays "stable", all should work out fine, and he should get an extra nice Christmas gift this year  ... like his own target pistol maybe???
