Good idea or not, something to think about that I maybe missing. If no issues, what fair, reputable and reliable companies are out there to purchase from? Thanks again so much. Appreicate any and all thoughts and info.

Haven't ordered online, shoot the .45 acp, wish I could find a local reloader. It's hard to beat the walmart prices.

I order from http://www.ammunitiontogo.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and http://www.ammoman.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; with no problems.

Things to watch.
1. if you order from a company that charges shipping, you have to do some extra legwork to figure out your true cost to your door. Or buy from a company that doesn't have ridiculous shipping costs.
2. will an adult be there to accept the shipment, or is your UPS guy is willing to leave it?
3. a company in Texas will charge sales tax, even if it's an internet order.
4. you might have a nice conversation with your UPS guy who is also a shooter.

I have never had a problem ordering online but like Grammy said "It's hard to beat the Wal-Mart prices". I reserve online buying for some hollow point ammo and for the harder to find calibers I own. Like the .32 H&R mag. and 10mm. All my 9mm practice ammo is from Wal-Mart. I carry Black Hills in the 9mm which can usually only be found online. For my .40 I buy Wal-Mart for practice and they now carry Winchester silvertips at my local store so I use them. .380 I practice with Wal-Mart now that I can find it and carry Black Hills or Speer Gold Dot, both of which I get online.

Really there is no reason to buy online unless you have an odd caliber and don't reload, like me. If you want to order online just remember that it is better to buy in bulk for shipping reasons because they pretty much charge you $10 to ship any ammo or $15 for 500 rounds. I have ordered from Midway USA, Cabelas and Able ammo in Huntsville Texas. Of these three Able was the best followed very closely by Midway concerning customer service. Cabelas is notorious for saying they will have ammo in within a certain date online and then never get it. None have ever given me bad ammo.

I ordered from Ammunitiontogo.com because they had the hollow points I wanted. Didn't have any problems. I can't remember if somebody had to sign for it. I know I wasn't home when it arrived.

I've never ordered online, but I've heard good things about cheaperthandirt.com, they're in Ft. Worth too.

We order often from AmmunitionToGo, MidwayUSA and CMP (well, CMP is kinda necessary for the stuff we buy there). Those are pretty much the online ones we trust right now.

We only buy online when 1) we can't get the round anywhere else (Garand, 32 WinSp, Ranger, etc.); or 2) we find the stuff at a significant discount (we've stumbled onto 25-40% sales several times lately). MidwayUSA is pretty much overpriced -- except for the unusual clearance/sale item. ATG non-sale prices seem to be pretty good, but sales tax must be added. The main variable for shipping cost seems to be total package weight (so we'll often add in a brick of something else, adding a dollar or so to the shipping).

Otherwise, if it's in stock, WM is our choice.

I have been ordering from SGAMMO for a long time. Mostly for the higher end protection type rounds. But for some target uses I found it cheaper than Walmart only because Walmart did not have it. 147g FMJ 9mm for IDPA use. But not a problem and fast.

I have ordered from Smokewagon, Ammoman and Cheaperthandirt. Ammoman http://www.ammoman.com/ has shipping included with no tax and you can find some deals there. Here's a site that has ammo listings for brick and mortar and online sales. Enter your zipcode and shipping will show up.

OK, I ordered today 200 rounds of HP for personal protection from Ammo to go and went seamless. So, we'll see. Due to my surgery and getting around, I figured it would be better to try this and see how it works. So, we'll see now how long it takes to get here and if the order is complete as ordered. Thanks

I've had good experience with AmmunitionToGo. I don't mind paying the sales tax, since my dollars are staying in Texas.
