Stupid was definitely involved. Whether it had some chemical help needs to be determined.

I could understand a person not familiar with firearms mistaking a .22 for an air rifle. As in, a pellet/BB gun. Not sure how dumb or mean you'd have to be to think that pointing it at your friend's chest is a good idea though.

Perhaps the guy thought it was an Airsoft gun, they shoot lightweight plastic pellets that sting, but don't do any real damage. I've played with some of those made out of metal that look and feel pretty realistic.

Seems to me anyway you look at it, airgun or what not gun, STUPID was the main problem. Even sober you don't play around with weapons....

You need to handle all guns as if they're loaded. I thought that was rule #1?
