I think I'll be able to handle it ok with the new style grips.
This has been my range/IDPA gun for over a year now, so it shoots
much better than I do.

The same can be said about my Kimbers. They will punch a hole where ever your aiming, but you better be on target. I may be in the minority, but I prefer wood grips on my pistols. They look great, and they just feel right to me. Out of curiosity, what type of grips did your commander come with/were on it before? I don't know much about what Colt's factory fit and finish is like.

Original stocks are double diamond, rosewood, checkered and with the gold Colt medallion.

Someone suggested stainless hex grip screws, so I tried a set from Ed Brown.

Actually, a lifelong friend of mine is a master cabinet maker and is making a custom presentation case for my 1977 Gold Cup.
