This is so aggravating. I was anxiously waiting to do my renewal via the online system only to find out that the system is down indefinitely (at least that is what the DPS folks said). It looks like I can do the application for instructor, but NOT the renewal. AHHHH!!!! So now, I have to get fingerprints, pictures and mail all the crap to them. Of course, the directions are vague as well (packet from DPS).

So fingerprints....they said complete the cards that enclosed, but none were, just a flier for the FAAST system. So, do I do prints or not? And I have heard that you can't schedule the prints until AFTER you do the course, is this right too? Aghhh!!!!!

Pics...so do they have to be signed or no? I have heard no, but the directions in the package said yes. This just sucks! I really wish the online system was working.

Second, how long is the system going to be down? It seems like I'd give it a day or 2 and see if the system comes back up. Unless DPS it was down longer than that...

Renewals do not need new pictures or new fingerprints. All you need is the CHL-100 (class completion form) Find yourself a class. Get the CHL-100. By then, maybe the online system will be back up.

I have been trying to get on there for about 2 weeks. When I emailed DPS, the told me the renewal system is down and they don't have a "fix date". They replied very quickly and I had a renewal package in 3 days! Much better service than I experienced 4 years ago!

Good to hear I won't have to deal w/ the prints and the pics. That was a pain 'back in the day!'

It is back up! Working as of 20 minutes ago when I renewed.
