I thought I'd take this opportunity to send some accolades to Mr. Dale Hunnicutt and his fine local business, Grip Reductions. I was referred to Mr. Hunnicutt by my LGS to have a Winchester .22 refinished. This .22 was my first rifle and, until recently, had sat under my mother's bed for the better part of 20 years. It was covered in surface rust and had some light pitting on the outside of the receiver and barrel. To make matters worse, I had tried to strip and reblue it with a home kit with disastrous results. My LGS recommended Mr. Hunnicutt's application of Duracoat as a more affordable alternative to an expensive rebluing. I contacted Mr. Hunnicutt on Tuesday afternoon and brought my rifle out to his business in Tomball. Mr. Hunnicutt was having shoulder surgery, so I dropped my rifle off with his son. On Thursday, I received a call from Mr. Hunnicutt to discuss color options for the finish. I decided on a color and let Mr. Hunnicutt know that there was no need to rush. However, I received a call the next morning that my .22 ws ready. I drove back out to Tomball and was very impressed with the results. The Duracoat was thin, but even and well-applied and my rifle looked amazing. The price for the surface prep and duracoating was only $80, which I consider well worth it for the quality of the treatment and excellent service.

While there, I perused some of Mr. Hunnicutt's other services. He offers multiple texturing jobs for polymer pistols, competition mag funnels and beavertails, and as the name implies, grip reductions. I did not realize how much you could really reduce a Glock grip and how much you could change the contours and proprortions, and grip angle. I left very impressed, and I will definitely be taking my next Glock to him.

All in all, I was very please with my experience with Grip Reductions, and I encourage you all to consider them for your refinishing and customizing needs.

I have known Dale for many years. He deserves the compliments in maverick2076's post. Very professional quality work and he isn't too bad a shooter either!

I have a G23 that I want cut down to take G27 mags. I love the sight plane and extra umph of the 23 but the handle with the 13 rnd mag is just a bit too hard to conceal at times.

I think I will give him a call.

Thanks for the info!
