Found this sign today while exchanging my cable box at the Time Warner offices (Austin (N)). I smiled, took a "cell phone" picture, and walked right in. :)

P.S. - Sorry for the poor quality, used my old cell phone in the rain to take the picture. :)

I don't think that is a NEW sign... I think the wording of that sign is very old and no longer enforceable.

that looks like an older sign from the 80s. 30.06 overrides that, in my opinion. I would think it could be ignored. IANAL

There were no CHL signs in the '80's.....ROFL
30.06 does not override anything.
4413 is no more, even when it existed, it was not a valid sign.
Don't tell 'em

Let's all let this be our little secret, OK?

Personally, I like the sign at Saltgrass Steakhouse in Humble, TX.
It is the generic "The unlicensed possession of a firearm.......", version, was very small, and could really only be seen on your way out! If company policy requires a sign, then thats the way I like it.
Good on them.

Trust me, I didn't say a word. All they heard from me about the sign was the "chuckle" when I read it..... :)
And I guess I should have put "new to me", I just haven't noticed that wording before.

That isn't a company policy, that is a TABC rule. If they sell alcohol and derive less than 51% of their revenue from on premises consumption, they gotta post that. No fault of the restaurant at all... State of TX requires it.

The sign in the photo would have been effective the first two years of CHL after that it has been only decoration.

When I took my CHL course, our instructor said he was once asked by a hairdresser what sign should she post to keep out bad guys with guns. He said he didn't know of one that would do that.
I suggested she might try "CHL holders who are carrying get a 10% discount."

The same sign is posted at Billy Bobs in Fort Worth. I just smile as I walk by.

There are no 51% signs and the entire establishment isn't a bar as far as I can tell.

From what I've heard (yeah I know

), Billy Bob's being split up, is not totally considered a bar. As long as you stay away from that side, I think you should be good.

IIRC, 51% signs do not have to be posted to notify a CHL'er of a No carry zone.
When it comes to the 51% Areas we are on our own to know if they are 51% or not. This in no way relieves the establishment of their duties to post the 51% sign but thats on them. We can still get tied up if we are caught in a Non posted 51%.
