I was reading the Texas CHL handbook and can't find anything that states that I can't. Unless I overlooked something. We have an MLK march here in San Antonio, and even though there are going to be plenty of police present, I would still like to carry.

Here is the website that shows what is going on.

Thanks in advance, fellas. :tiphat:

Local Government Code Sec. 229.001. FIREARMS; EXPLOSIVES. (a) A municipality may not adopt regulations relating to the transfer, private ownership, keeping, transportation, licensing, or registration of firearms, ammunition, or firearm supplies.

(b) Subsection (a) does not affect the authority a municipality has under another law to:
(6) regulate the carrying of a firearm by a person other than a person licensed to carry a concealed handgun under Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, at a:
(C) political rally, parade, or official political meeting;
It's rather convoluted, but a city cannot regulate licensed concealed carry at a parade, etc.

I don't think I've ever seen a MLK parade anywhere.

The last parades I've seen are the 4th of July parades in Lake City, CO. Everybody there has a gun that wants one..OC or CC.

As long as you don't go to a prohibited place (ex school building, 30.06 location) you are good to go. Texas doesn't have the silly 'public gathering' restrictions as some other states do.

Well, I kind of figured. I actually sat there reading the bloody thing, and couldn't find anything. I just wanted to reassure myself that it was ok. I always second guess myself, and that's when you all come in handy. :D

Y'all save the day, once again..
