Has anyone had any experience with rifle rods? If so, did they work well and free up space in your safe to store more rifles?

I've never seen this before, but looks like an interesting concept, though it looks like it would be more difficult to get just one of the rifles in the back without taking out some of the others.

EDIT: Okay, it helps if I watch the video first. I guess this would only be beneficial if you didn't already have adequate storage. As long as the Velcro is strong enough to not break adhesion (right terminology?) due to sheer (if the rifle was heavy enough).

I've seen those things at gun shows. My only thought is that it probably doesn't do the bore of your rifle any good to have a steel rod shoved inside. :nono:

Maybe it's not really an issue, but I'll pass.

Hmm... that might be a good excuse to start a project

It looks simple enough to reproduce, and you could do so using brass rods, or wood, or plastic (though that might be a little more difficult to get a hold of).

I guess I should read the product info before I post. Apparently, the rods are plastic.

I have this. I've had it for over a year.
The rods are plastic, which is good and bad.
Good - They do not scratch the bore.
Bad - In high heat areas (My safe is not in a conditioned part of the house) they will flex and allow rifles to slump.
I've had the most luck with longer barreled guns - less rod sticking out. My short barrelled carbines have a tendancy to slump.

All that having been said - they work as advertised. I like them.

I could buy some of these and store more guns in my current safe.........but then I wouldn't "need" to buy a bigger safe. :evil2:

They are plastic and worth the money. You can attach the velcro cloth to the bottom of your top shelf in your safe and the top of the rifle rod 's velcro surface attaches to it. I use them in my AR's and other short carbines to fit in my gun safe's rifle slots since they are shorter than several of my hunting rifles.
