Gun storage in bag

I have 2 Glocks (23 and 27) and I recently bought a range bag at Academy due to previous "range bag" coming apart. I was wanting some advice on how to store the guns in my range bag, I clearly do not want to just throw them in there.

I have this weird thing about protecting them and making sure they do not get damaged, I guess since I paid so much for them I don't want anything to happen to them.

Any advice on how to keep them protected in the bag? I tried putting the Glock case in my range bag but that leaves me with little or no room.

I read many interesting ideas since I joined the forum back when I first got my CHL and figured you guys would have some great ideas when it comes to this.

Thanks!

Get a couple of cheap gun rugs from Academy.

USA1 beat me to it. Some bags have dedicated, cushioned pockets for your gun as well.

:iagree: Gun rugs are your friend. I have one for every handgun that I own. I still have some old ones that are made of real leather with fleece lining!

One caution. Some gun rugs hold moisture and can contribute to rust. It may not be a problem with the newer guns with high tech finishes, but be careful with classic blued guns.

Good point. That is why I try to buy cloth, rather than vinyl cases.

I find it hard to walk with guns in my tube socks.

Socks? Did someone say Socks???? The silicone impregnated gun socks will keep your guns from banging against each other and help retard rust. They are cheap enough too!.

This.

In all seriousness you can find cheap individual handgun holders like those pictured above. Those will work perfectly for keeping the weapons from banging into each other. I prefer a little more, so I order one of these for my "working" guns:

TT is a great company and their gun rugs are great. I also have one of their rifle bags. It gets beat to pieces sliding around in the back of a patrol car, and has yet to show any signs of wear, ripping, fraying, or even discoloration. , When I go to a range day/training class/travel out of town, I can throw one or two of these in my travel bag, with loaded mags, and I'm good to go. I can put one or two in my Timbuk2 shoulder bag, with some ammo, ears, and eyes, and have a range bag (though I have a "dedicated" range bag too).

...Home Dippy carries zipper bags...Husky brand...some are larger than others...one has a liner that splits it into two sides and keeps two items from bumping together...cheap...sharp...works for mine...

I prefer the kind with the carry handle attached...
I can carry more at one time that way.

They're Glocks, just throw them in there. They can't get any uglier and they won't get messed up. Now if you're talking about a 1911 or nice revolver, get some gun rugs.

You should see some of the things I do to my Glocks.

the $5.99 rugs from Academy work fine. no need to worry about rust, it's a Glock.

In fact, realistically you don't even need to put them in the rugs or in the bag at all. just tie them to your bumper and drag them to the range. they'll still shoot. :thumbs2:
