My company is going to have a meeting for a number of our distributors in March.
In total, we will have about 35 people including our distributors and some employees.

Normally we do a golf outing for these meetings as the entertainment in the afternoon, but this year, with a lot of recent discussions (on my part mostly), I have inspired my boss (a Brit, believe it or not) to (1) like shooting and (2) to get his CHL (see other discussion about our companies CHL class).... anyway, my boss has agreed that this year, it would be fun to have a shooting range day.

So, I have contacted The Arms Room and made that happen.
Now for the fun, other than just going Bang an awful lot (after the initial safety briefing of course), what fun games can we do for prizes.
Bear in mind, some of these people may have never shot a gun, others may be marksmen, so we need to find a middle ground.

What do you all do when you go to the range to have some fun?

With untrained shooters present, I think I would be happy just having no injuries. However, here are a few ideas.

You could flight them and then have marksmanship competitions. Or handicap based on distance. An experienced shooter puts the target at the back wall, and the newby has the target at 7 yards, etc.

Also, how about a test to see who can disassemble and reassemble a given weapon the fastest (unloaded of course). Add a blindfold for added challenge. Make it a blindfolded dissasembly / reassemble of something a little more complex like an AR if you really want a challenge. Or have someone familiar with the gun use a blindfold and race against someone who had never seen the gun before that day.

It's tough to make games at which the inexperienced will have a chance. Maybe you can team up varying skill levels so that everyone have a chance. How about a most-creative connect-the-dots competition; every messed-up shot group has a chance to win. Or print some dart board targets and score the shots like darts (triple-20, double-8, etc.) with no bulls so that precision isn't as important.

Shooting at bowling pins is always fun

print out those free 8x11 targets that have the outline of playing cards printed on them and play "poker" .... or use real playing cards (if possible depending on range/backdrop set up). I did this once with family and we had fun. Everyone gets 5 shots to make their best poker hand. I even let everyone else pick the gun they wanted to use with me picking last. So the Glock goes first. Then the S&W revolver. Last picked is the little Ruger LCP. When my turn came, I just laughed and picked up grandpa's old .410 shotgun, which had been laying to the side, and said "I guess I'll have to use this one"

Poker targets are fun get the kind with Backs on one side and the face on the other. Put them with the back showing fire seven shots make the best five card hand you can. High hand wins. Lots of fun. Or, shoot at the face side and make the shooter produce a certain hand ie. aces, and eights four of a kind, flush etc. Harder, but more challenging for experienced shooters. Do a search for "poker targets" there are lots of them available.

If you have a really good backstop, balloons on two or three foot long strings. Really gets interesting if the wind is blowing. Perfect for a .22 pistol or revolver shoot. Least amount of rounds to break x number of balloons wins.

The Arms Room is an indoor range, so I'm not sure they would be too keen on messy games, suck as the paint and breakable targets.

I dont have any kind of suggestions. Shell and Acergy did a clay pigeon shoot offshore from the deck of a vessel. Unfortunately for me, I wasnt there are the time.

Balloons can be fun. Paper plates with numbers on them. Then hit the plate with just that number or call out numbers in different orders.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking.

OR....use colored paper plates and a spinner from the game Twister. "Right hand red" means you shoot a red target with your right hand only.

OR...have door prize drawings with random people making shots to choose the door prize number.

Rolling thunder is fun too....not really a game, but it gets really LOUD!

You could also shoot for the door prize. Smallest target or furthest for the best door prize.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the poker game. As for skill levels, the handicap idea sounds good...

Here's a thought- someone mentioned paper plates with numbers... Play bingo!

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but another way to handicap the advanced shooters would be to make them shoot with their non-dominant hand...

I would have a 2x4 shoot, hang them and use 9mm's, count the rounds it take to make 2 pieces and give the winners a prize. Although it can make a mess, a few extra dollars to the range should offset the additional cleaning requirements. At least nobody will be throwing a gold club when they miss a shot...........
