Im Sad :(

"Firearms

Loaded firearms are strictly prohibited. A concealed handgun license issued under the authority of the Sate of Texas, or another state, is not valid at the National Seashore.

Unloaded weapons may be possessed only when such weapons are rendered temporarily inoperable, or are packed, cased or stored in a manner that will prevent their ready use."

You are referring to North Padre Island National Seashore, I guess. That starts about 12 miles south of Corpus Christi's North Padre Island.

Yes, i love that place. I usually go down with friends for the "Surf Cats" fishing tournament or just down there to fish throughout the year.

It can be a pretty desolate place a few miles down in "4x4" territory, and i have often wished i could have a weapon just in case.

Is this valid? I'd assume no, because it's not 30.06 compliant, but since i'm usually wrong...

It is a Federal Park. No guns allowed.

If this is the case, it is better than I thought. At least you can have them, just not accessable.

Does anyone know if this is the case with all federal parks?

For example, would you be able to take a cased, inaccessable pistol to Big Bend?

I wonder what the outcome would be in court if you had a weapon "packed" and "Inaccessible", and needed to retrieve it due to self defense.

Yes, and yes.
