Got a couple of new toys for the safe

Had a tank toolbox combo I wasn't using so I put it on craigs list. A guy calls me up and says "I don't suppose you would be interested in trading that tank for a like new glock 36". I said bring it on over and lets have a look. It wasn't until after he left with the tank that I noticed the night sites.
So I tell the wife that I have a new carry gun and she can have my glock 27. So she says "what do we do with my old carry gun?". I said don't you worry your little pretty self about that. So the old carry gun goes on the internet this morning and this evening a Savage 110 30-06 joined the other deer rifles in the safe.
Now to find out what else around here isn't nailed down.

Thanks. The first deal was a no brainer. I wasn't too sure about the second. I didn't know much about Savage or the 110 model.
Funny though, I had put it online as a WTT and was mulling the offer when another guy texted with a "if you don't get any trade offers I will buy it if the price is right". I told him about the offer I had on the table and he provided a lot of sound advice. He seemed very knowledgeable. Told me everything I should ask about the rifle. We texted back and forth a number of times regarding information I had obtained due to his suggestions. In the end he believed I couldn't go wrong with the deal. After spending some time researching (before and after the deal was done) he was absolutely correct.
It never ceases to amaze me how friendly and helpful are most members of the gun owner’s community. This guy had no incentive whatsoever in ensuring I was making an educated decision but still went out of his way to help me and really seemed to enjoy doing so. He also ensured me that this was a good deal for both parties involved. As much as I enjoy horse trading, I don’t like getting the short end of the stick so I try never to give the short end of a stick. The guy I traded with also had a chl and was extremely happy with the trade (I surprised him with some extra ammo I decided to put in with the deal). So, a fun time giving people something they want/need and getting something I will enjoy in return. The only problem is I may be driving the wife a little crazy. She keeps looking over her shoulder to see what I have my eye on for the next trade. “Honey, are you sure we can’t do without that furniture in the living room?”

There was a story recently about a guy that traded stuff on craigslist.... a young kid..
Started with a used cell phone and kept trading until he got a Porsche 911...
Edit: Story here:

I find "enthusiasts" of all sorts to be helpful and honest about their hobbies... Shooters are no exception. Still, your experience is a good story that reinforces the "Golden Rule"... Congrats again and thanks for sharing.
