Beware of the bag
By Laurie Essig (an anti)
1. the best way to restrict gun violence is to restrict guns
rest of the article is just as illogical, and uninformed

I'd create an account to offer free bus ticket to Ciudad Juarez where they did that, but I don't think it's worth the time.

Contradicting statements. Has the author ever thought to study pre-post violence in States where concealed carry is allowed for years on campuses. Has the author ever heard of Supreme court ruling for 2A as personal right? I see only ignorance.

One has to ask, if there is no guns, do you eliminate violent criminals? What to do when Violent criminals abduct some, invade some residence and then torture, rape and burn the whole house. Anyone heard of the 3 who were raped, and burned alive in Gun strictly-controlled state of Connecticut?

Actually, Connecticut is not a prohibitionist state like NJ or NY. Handguns can be bought and kept at home with no permit, and carry permits are given freely to those who can pass the background check.

The homeowner in the home invasion incident you cited simply didn't properly prepare to to protect his family from the kind of people who ended up killing them.

"the best way to restrict gun violence is to restrict guns (we have a huge amount of evidence from countries that do restrict weapons to support this claim"

We do? Where? England, maybe?

let's look at gun-forbidden countries such as Britain and Australia, in Britain police officers must purchase their own personal body armor.......but don't carry guns.......(and NO, I don't have a cite at this time, I do recall reading it in one of my many gun rags a few years back though, a female officer in GB had written in explaining her situation, and IIRC the magazine shipped her the "proper" body armor that she needed)

Not sure, those on the north of the border have fewer murder rates. Maybe the weather and the social fabric does make a difference. The only real problem they got is Bikers gangs (pushing drugs), Organized Mafia, and some low level street gangs.

Best way to stop gun violence, is to stop violent people,

The only way to stop violent people is with a gun

IMO, it should be "The best way"

It is certainly not the "only" way, and others will argue that.

Fixed with "The best way", I think that is a very good, simple, argument.

There are only two ways to control some one, force and reason. Violent people aren't known to be reasonable

Actually in CT you do need a Concealed permit to purchase and possess a pistol. You also need a CHL or a hunting license to buy a long arm or you have to wait 2 weeks to pick it up. They did away with this part but at one time you even needed character letters to be submitted with your application to get a permit. It's a shame what happened to the Northeast. When out country started it used to be full of freedom loving people, now it's a giant nanny state. The only two good states left are Vermont and New Hampshire.

The first paragraph is so promising. She seemed quirky but intelligent and rational. However, by the third paragraph, she reveals she was only pretending to be rational at first, and seems much closer to the batguanocrazy end of the spectrum.

I've had dates like that.
