The other day I found an old Stevens Model 94 in my mother's aunt's closet. She said it belonged to my great-grandfather. He used it to hunt rabbits and whatever else he could find to put some food on the table. It has some surface rust and I'm not sure if it will function, but the wood is still good. The gun is not worth much money as far as I can tell (Maybe $100), but it's more for the sentimental value that I would like to get it back to decent shape. Anyone in the Clear Lake area that anyone would recommend?

Those old Stevens shotguns may not be worth much financially, but they do the job quite well and are worth keeping around. Especially when there is family history involved. I grew up dove hunting with my Dad's 16 gauge Stevens 520a. Love that gun. Dad's had to have the firing pin replaced over the years and the stock worked on, but it's served him well out at the family farm for the 50+ years that he's owned it. Neither of us knew until recently that the gun is older than him.

Be careful removing surface rust. I did that to my grandad's old Savage 94 in .410 and took off the bluing along with the rust

Have since Duracoated it, replaced firing pin (Numrich has the parts), and plan to use it as first "big gun" (bigger than a .22 anyway ) to train my kids.

Great simple old guns that do their job well.
