My first Tok
(Won't use the holster, but it's getting slathered with Lexol anyway.)
To the range tomorrow.
But what's the deal with the safety concern I've read about?
Seems like the thumb safety locks the hammer like an iron spike.
I can cock the hammer, set the safety, and there's just no way that hammer's gonna move.

I was witness to seeing a`Tok dropped from waist high and discharged. I was lucky I was no to hit. That was some 25 yrs ago.

Maybe that's the reason for the lanyard ring.

Back from the range. (Also tried a few new tips suggested by my peers at the last IDPA match - shot better with the Commander than I ever have before)
The CommieCannon shot accurately, cycled flawlessly, no more recoil than my 9mm Commander. VERY pleased.
MUZZLE FLASH!!
It's already on car duty (loaded with FMJ, but HP's are in the mail)
CZ82 package goes up for sale locally on Monday - see ya!
Is this a great hobby, or what??

I believe the safety issue was that it didn't have one and was added as a condition of importation.
Note: the M57 takes a different mag than other Toks.
I've got several varieties, but would never consider parting with the CZ82s.

Having my C&R FFL, I ordered a Yugoslavian Tokarev M57

last November from Widener's in TN. It is a very solid and surprisingly well made pistol. The pistol I received was in extremely good condition and did not appear to have ever been fired - although heavily coated with cosmoline. Easy to field strip and clean (videos are on-line). I have only tried S&B FMJ (85 gr) ammo, still looking for some Wolf Gold, HP. Have not tried any of the cheap surplus ammo. The 7.62 x25mm round is fairly 'hot' compared to my usual 9mm's. Overall, every works great and lots of cheap ($210 delivered directly to my door!) fun. This was the first C&R gun that I have tried.

Neat lookin' weapon! I gotta laugh though Doc - seems it is all about the chase - catch the girl and off for another,

I know, so many guns, so little time
Hubby and I were just discussing that we need a cheaper hobby - Keep finding stuff we might "need".
Enjoy Doc - can't believe you are selling the CZ! and I have added a car holster to MAR's list of honey do's.

Ballistically & Caliber - What does it compare to?

Not sure, but the 85 grain FMJ zips along at 1600fps making about 500 ft/lb of energy.
I'll tell you this, after shooting it at the range for the first time yesterday, I have a
lot of confidence in it as a personal defense caliber with HP's.
Yesterday I discovered that Mr. Boxotruth is an old shooting buddy from back in the day, so when the HP ammo gets here, we're gonna shoot stuff with it.

It's a .30 caliber bullet (similar to the .32ACP in diameter) running from 1,300 to 1,700 fps and equivalent to a .40 S&W in terms of energy - it's a very flat-shooting cartridge, known for its ability to pierce soft bodyarmor.
Same cartridge, except for pressure and energy, was aka ".30 Mauser" in the old c96 broomhandle. That's "c-
18-96", way over a century old.

Ammo is SO cheap for those right now, I'm considering one in that caliber.
I think I've even seen AR uppers in 7.62x25. Or was it a 1911?
