Yes, I said "I". It never occur to me to find this out, but I want to see which of these 9mm pistols I can hold the tightest group at 15 yards shooting <= 1sec per shot. All pistols are stock and will shoot the same 9mm Blazer ammo. Eacho pistol will get a 10-shot group and do it 2 times, and I'll take the best number.

I'll have a ranking by the end of the day. So please take your pick and see if you are the lucky winner. (I've been shooting the G19 almost exclusively at the range since last month, I play IPSC with my HK, the M9 gets the best group from a rest, I'm not a Sig fan and got rid of them all, but some how a P229 found its way to me.)

Tough question because we all shoot differently.. I have a G19 and a P 229.. I use to group better w/ my 229 in 40 until I have learned and gotten use to the reset of the G 19 trigger.. It's all trigger control.. If I have just to pick one my guess will be the P229.. I haven't shot the other two you have listed so no comment from me..

I really have no Idea, but got the hots for the Beretta myself so I voted for that one.

Your mindset and prior belief can effect the results. I would say the Glock and HK (if it has the LEM trigger), and the Sig (DAK trigger).

Well, it was an interesting range trip. I decided to bring a few extra pistols; actually, this is the most numerous number of pistols I've ever taken to a range trip.

BTW, the HK, Sig, M9 are DA/SA, and I fire first shot in DA.

The Glock 19 and HK came very close at just under 3" (the Glock is just a bit better). The M9 had a 9-shot group size of 2.5", but w/ 1 shot off, giving it a 3.5" size. The Sig came in at 5.5".

I didn't attempt to rush so my splits were between 1 and 1.5 secs usually. Initially, I try to keep splits < 1 sec (i.e. watch front sight rise and hit when back down), but I'm getting very bad results w/ pistols that I don't shoot often.

Additionally, I decided to try out the Ciener 22LR conversion I bought recently (Ciener has a special right now, and I got the 22LR conversion, 1 extra mag, shipping, for about $200). I also took along my Walther P22 as a comparison since I've not shot 22LR in a long time. I'm glad to say this Ciener is more accurate than my P22. However, there are very annoy issues w/ it.

I also took my Kahr PM9s. It is 9mm and I put it thru the same test as the above pistols. It's group was 4", but splits averaged 2sec. After each shot a little adjustment was needed on the grip (I was using the 6-shot mag). If I don't adjust my grip and keep the spits down, the group size opens up to off paper (I was using 5x5" targets).

Anyway, now I have to clean all this mess. I'm typing this ahead of the high I miht get from sniffing those solvents .

I should mention something about the Sig results. I had 2 and 2 accidental discharges (I ran the 10 shot test 2 times per pistol) with the Sig. Since I'm monitoring splits, I keep my finger on the trigger all the time and try to take up the slack. The problem is that I don't shot this pistol too often and it's SA trigger's slack is short, so it discharged when the sights aren't aligned too well.

Also, for all pistols, the first round results were the best.

I chose the Beretta. Longest sight radius and of all the service sized 9mm's I've owned, it was by far the most accurate out of the box.

My 229 with 9mm Bar-sto barrel is even more accurate, but we are talking about box stock guns right?

I suggest you don't limit your list to just those four. The Springfield XD fits me very well, where Glocks don't. I don't have any direct experience with the HK, and didn't like the SIG or Beretta enough better to select one of them over the XD.

Of course I can't really to claim to have my XD anymore - after my wife used it for her CHL requal, and fired a perfect score, she has claimed it as hers.

I'd vote for an XD if you had it on your poll.

A couple of us (yphur and I) are interested in getting a Ciener conversion,. How do you get hold of them?
Also, can you review your issues a little?

I've been waffling for over a year on a 1911-to-.22 conversion myself. The Ciener is about the least expensive I've considered, but over on the 1911 Forum (http://forum.m1911.org/showthread.php?t=770) they've talked quite a bit about FTFs and FTEs with it; also say it's difficult to clean because of some particular issue with the recoil spring and barrel relationship I'm not clear about.

One that came in at the higher cost end was from Marvel Products (http://www.marvelprod.com/). This one looks pretty sweet, but starts out at $388 plus extras.

If I got a conversion kit, I think I'd most often use it on a Kimber, and their kit designed specifically for their products is $314, so less than the Marvel. But if I want to use it on more than one frame, an SA for example, I don't know if the Kimber will work. Anybody have any experience with that?

And I'm just now thinking the Moderator may think our conversion kit conversation probably belongs somewhere other than here. But I would like to stay in touch and compare notes on this. Having the feel of my own 1911s in my hand but be able to reliably shoot cheap .22LR would take some of the poketbook sting out of going to the range...

If you had a CZ on your poll I'd vote for that. My PCR is much more accurate for me than the ported XD-9 I had. It's simply the most naturally pointing and comfortable in the hand gun I've ever used. Never failed to do anything after about 1K rounds and $411 OTD at a local gunshow. Size and weight are great for concealed carry. Hold one of these before you buy.

I found a Kadet kit for this gun at Gander Mountain for $150 with only one magazine. Now I can shoot .22 with it and it rivals my Buckmark for accuracy. Again totally reliable.
