Proficiency not required for online renewals.

It appears that DPS has officially ruled that we do not need to demonstrate proficiency for online renewals. That's what I'm getting out of this at least, anyone have a different interpretation?

To qualify for certification as a handgun instructor, an instructor applicant must apply for and successfully complete the instructor training course offered by the department. As part of the initial training course, and each alternate renewal training course, the instructor applicant must demonstrate handgun proficiency, and initially and at every renewal, must pass a written test covering the required subjects.

Same language later on in the rules as well. Looks like this is official, anyone want to email DPS and confirm?

The key part seems to be...
As part of the initial training course, and each alternate renewal training course, the instructor applicant must demonstrate handgun proficiency,
Seems like you get a pass on proficiency with each "alternate" renewal, which I would interpret as 1st renewal, 3rd, 5th, etc.

IMHO.

It sounds to me like they mean initial certification and even numbered renewals.
