I need some well needed help that it seems no one can answer. There are 4 models of the Ruger 345 and other than one of them being blue and the other three stainless, I cannot distinquish between the 4. I do know that the KP345DPR has the decock feature. What the heck. I thought all the P models have the decock mechanism. Can someone please help me. thanks in advance.

The KP345 is the basic stainless model, with manual safety.
The KP345PR adds a picatinny rail.
The KP345DPR is the decocker, picatinny rail model.

KP345 - stainless, no decocker, no rail
KP345PR - stainless, with rail

I carry the predecessor, the P97DC. Good reliable gun, accurate, built like a tank, and I'd bet my life on it. But, I'm not in love with it, and I will happily trade it away when the time comes. Reasons: it's big, it's heavy, and it's a single stack. There are smaller/lighter pistols carrying 8 --or even 10-- rounds of .45 ACP. There are pistols of the same size carrying 13+1.
Holsters and accessories are also harder to come by. I'm currently wearing a Fobus paddle, with a Don Hume JIT slide in the drawer.

I really like my K97DC too. It has eaten everything I put in it. Even my reloads.
I don't carry this gun though, it's stricktly a range gun at this time.

I'm unsure of the proper terminology... normally, Ruger prepends "K" to the stainless models, but I don't think the P97 was offered in blue. Mine is stainless, but the box just says "P97DC".
I paid $329 at Bachmann Pawn & Gun in Dallas, in 2001. I could have had a Charles Daly 1911 for the same price, but the Daly had GI sights and only came with one magazine.
Ooops... now that I went and pulled out the plastic case and checked the receipt, I see that the owner's manual says P97DC, but the official Ruger "catalog number" is KP97D. I still don't know if they offered a blued model.
As for carry... if you adjust your fashion style appropriately, you can carry a service-size pistol like this easily enough. A good holster and a
good belt are mandatory. A double mag carrier helps balance the weight.

Oops I forgot the "P" it is a "KP97DC"...
I bought mine this year ('06) at Academy for $318. It was the last one they had.

I looked at a Ruger P345PR today at Academy and liked what I saw and felt. It has a nice feel to it. The P345PR I looked at was blued with a safety/decocker. According to Ruger's website, all the P345s have a decoker, either a manual safety/decocker or decocker only. The D means Decocker only, no safety.
If anybody is pricing, Academy (in Mesquite) wants $414.00 for the P345PR
