Well I did my online app to be an instructor. Now I have to schedule my finger prints for Wednesday, they can get me in any sooner. How long should it take before I should expect to hear from the state?

My reply was pretty quick, within a few weeks if I recall.

Of course, I could be wrong. I've slept since then.

I am guessing I fill out and return my chl 90 after I take the course? lol I guess what I am trying to ask is, is there anything else I need to to do to book my class or will they automatically book me for the class in Austin? The web site is so vague about the proceedure.

after you do the prints you have to send in the chl-90 and the affidavids. once all that is received at DPS they will process it and complete a backgropund check. after all that you will be offered a class to attend. afaik. in the process my self

Did my fingerprints yesterday, I am mailing my other stuff off today.

I have a question, I am already signed up for the April 11-15th class. When will I be able to actually teach? Will I be certified after a final test on the 15th and on the 16th I can teach, or will I have to wait for a certification in the mail?

They give out the certs at the range after you qualify. You're good to go at that point.
At least that's what they did last year.

Background Check : Under review
Certificate : Issuance pending completion of application review and/or instructor's training

Well it gives me a place to start the same process myself! I applied online, got the fingerprints done last Thursday and actually mailed my CHL-90 in today!

I'm in the same boat, applied online, did my fingerprints last friday, will send in my chl-90 tomorrow. What are the affidivits that need to sent?
