Wife got to the range this afternoon. Her response to the PX4 Storm was oooh I like that. She shot 50 rds at the two targets below. She would shoot 5 rds at 3yds, (bottom target) then 5 at 7 yds (Top target). reload 10 & the same thing again.




Above target is 25 rds at 7 yds. The large hole at the 8/9 ring is a tripple. One low left on the dirty bird Logo. She had 9 just low left off the board. The last 2 sets she was getting tired & it was showing. She had shot 40 rds before the 50 for the report.






Above target is 25 rds at the 3 yd range. First shot always double action then the next 4 single action. One is just left & 3 are low & left. The 2 real low left together were 1st shots in double action. The one Left was a 1st shot double action. All the rest are in or touching the pink 3" by 3" square.


My impression:
For a plastic gun, OOOOOOOHHH I like it too. She did let me shoot it.
Double action the trigger is about 12 lbs & a little long. It does stage pretty well then about 1/16" travel before fire. Single action is a quality trigger out of the box for a gun in the $500.00 price range. Recoil is negligable. She said the same thing. Very easy to control.
The ammo was CCI aluminum 115 gr. FMJ. On the 2nd round there was a failure to feed. No other hiccup for the rest of 100 rds.
We both shot 10 rds of 147 gr HydraShoks.
She said the difference was noticable but not at all difficult to manage.
I shot the HydraShoks about 10 minutes after shooting the CCIs so for me there was no noticable difference.

Excellent lady's gun in 9mm. A little large in my opinion for purse carry but really good for onboard carry. The 17 rd mag & one in the pipe makes an extra mag unnecessary in my opinion. I hope the holster makers get some molds for this pistol soon.
The .40 S&W is a few ounces heavier & I think it would be an EXCELLENT carry weapon for men that like the platform.
It is easy to disassemble & clean. Before reading the book I thought it would take down like a Ga, Galll, Glock (hard to get it out some times ) but you do not pull the trigger in disassembly. I do like that.
Overall I am impressed beyond what I thought I would be. If my 1911 went to a shop or back to the factory for some reason I would definately ask to borrow it & would not consider myself underarmed.
Above that: Mrs longtooth likes it & that is all that matters.

That's some good shooting, but with you as her teacher it's not surprising.

She said you could shoot it. It is a little larger than your .380 but lighter empty. It will not go in your front pocket. The 17 rds of ammo make it about the same wt but a lot more fire power, a much faster round, & heavier bullet.

Great review! Good to see your wife shares in your hobbies. I worked my CX4 trigger and got it into the 6# range. It might be a tad lighter now. It's very accurate and alot of fun to shoot. Only problem is feeding it, it's HUNGRY!! I also converted mine to take the PX4 mags so it shares with my pistol. My wife shot mine and didn't care for it. Then again, she's a little recoil sensitive. Not that it's much, she'd just getting into shooting and it's a bit much for her.


Pick out a red dot for it yet? I had a problem with buying a sight that was the same price as the weapon and opted for a cheap BSA red dot. Its been 100% and maintained accuracy so far.

Thanks for the report, Longtooth, I've been going back and forth on what to select for my next gun purchase. Either an M&P .40 or a PX4 .40. Right now, I'm back on the PX4.

My son shoots a SA XD .40. I have many posts on here stating that if I had to choose something other than a 1911, it would be the XD. Since I have shot the Baretta, that has changed. I like it.

I guss now you'll start reloading 9mm. huh.

Ive been carrying a PX4 for over a year now, daily. Its an awesome weapon, as long as you like double-action pistols. Extremely reliable, and is light, same weight as a glock 17.

Glad she liked it. I believe Beretta is to come out with a compact version at some point. Be sure to put a dab of grease on that locking lug when you clean it.

I am going to look at it close. I have the dies. 9mm is so cheap you really cannot load them if your time is counted & especially w/ a single stage loader. Also she will not shoot near as much as Mother & I.
Wife shoots just enough to stay proficient and still shoots pretty good.
I do not advocate that but a lot of ladies who carry dont shoot a lot.

NNNN NNo thanks though. When I was young & living rough I chewed Redman. Ran out one day & a feller said take a dip O my Skoal (sp?) Tried it & once was enough.

I have tried a PX4 Storm in .40 and I liked everything, except for one thing. The transistion from that really long double action trigger pull on the first shot to the very nice single action for the remaining shots. I think I could overcome this challenge, but it might take a whole lot of practice. Who knows, a PX4 Storm may follow me home one day.
