Any opinions welcome? I looked at one the other day and really liked the way it felt. It's about $800, so not on the high side of expensive for the 1911 world, but seemed to be made very well and the trigger felt amazing.

I own zero 1911's, so it would be my first. I know Sig isn't really known for these types of guns, but I like Sigs and I liked the way this gun felt.

Opinions?

I've never even held one, but the pictures I've seen look pretty good.

I just got one a month or so ago. Love it. Feels great and shoots great.

I have a buddy who uses the platinum carry as his EDC. It is a beautiful gun and a heck of a lot lighter than my Colt. I have shot it a few times and it was a pleasure to handle. Sig has a couple of new models out that are tempting me. The Scorpion looks really sweet.

Maybe mine was an isolated case, but I had a GSR Stainless Carry, and it was the most fickle thing I've ever owned. I never could get it to shoot one complete magazine without at least a couple of jams. I finally traded it back in to the store where I bought it and got a Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry II, and I've never regretted that decision.

I have no opinion or experience about this particular model. Like any company, SigArms has come up with a few "clunkers", but they make some of the best and most reliable guns in the world. I hope the 1911 is one of them.

Yuck. I'm glad I didn't get a lemon like that one. I put ~200 rounds through mine the first time I took it to the range and only had 1 FTF. That 1 was within the first 20 rounds. No other hiccups after that. Well, the slide failed to lock back after the last round once. Mine is an RCS.

I wouldnt have any problem getting one, I looked into the 1911's recently because I want to add a .45 to my line up, but I may end up with a p220 just to have similar controls as my other guns

I'm waiting for that Sig 1911 ultra compact. Thing looks BEAUTIFUL and Sig finally does something with their triggers. It gives it character. Also a bit hesitant on getting their first generation models just due to defects and what not.

Mine is a 5" GSR Revo, and it's the nicest full-size 1911 I own. Very accurate, good trigger.
The look is a little un-1911, and I don't care much for the squiggly slide serrations.

I've had one for a couple of years... It was finicky at first, but after a few hundred rounds it seemed to break-in and straighten out. Great trigger, great looking gun, and now I can't even recall the last problem I had. For $800, I say go for it.

Now I need to decide which one. I like the stainless, but they're hard to find. The local shop has the XO which is nice too, but not as pretty.
Weird, a Glock owner is now concerned about the looks of his next gun purchase.

For $800 I'd look at Colt, Kimber, or STI. I'm a firm believer in purchasing products from companies that produce the item as their bread and butter. Sig is quickly becoming like Taurus and producing anything they think will sell. Granted, I like Sigs and have a couple but I'm not gonna lose myself over their 1911. They've been in the 1911 business a whole 6-7 years.

There's probably a reason that there's not a huge following of the Sig 1911. Look over at 1911forum and you'll see that the number of threads in the dedicated Sig 1911 section is one of the lowest. Even Rock Island Armory has 3x more threads.

+1 on the Stainless Ultra Carry II. I have one I carry every day, and it's a joy to own, fire and carry.
As to Sig, I have 2 of the P-238's, one for the Wife, and one for me. Don't know much about other Sig's, but the P-238's are great.

I agree with you as far as Sig and their 1911's, but RIA is only like 3-4 bills to own. Of course they're going to have more owners.

I say wait for the Sig 1911 Ultra Compact (Should be due this year). It's about 8-900 starting off.. or at least that's what the pre order calls for.
