Campus Carry and State Government

Without going into any extreme detail, would someone be willing to provide a succinct crash course on how state government operates, particularly in the case of bills such as SB 354 and HB 750. I'd like to show my support to my state senator and representative, but I feel I should know a little more about how these bills get passed first. For example: whats an intent calendar? where does it go from there? Really just what the general stages are, and how it moves on from each.
Next up on my class schedule for next semester: GOVT 2306.

These are the basic stages as I know it:

As for "intent calendar", I'm kinda curious myself.

This
website explains each step of the process and what the rules are.

Thomas,
Thank you for your reply. I have looked at that website earlier, and those stages are pretty straightforward, and I understand that part. More on the lines of what I am ignorant of, however, are the "intent calendar," this vote to "suspend rules," and similar stages in a bill's life.

Thanks, baldeagle, that link is very helpful. Now to do some reading, and then calling.
