That'll do!
I have a Winchester Model 1300 for home defense. What type of load are you running through it? I was told at my CHL class that #4 bird shot was adequate.

I like Federal Flite control reduced recoil 9 pellet 00 buck in my pump. It throws a good tight pattern that will keep all 9 pellets in a mansize target out to 10 yards or so. In my 1100 I use Remington or Winchester full power 00 buck in the 15 round value packs from Wally World. Another load that is interesting is the 12 pellet 00 load by Nobel Sport available from ATG in Brenham. All are 2 3/4" shells.

If you need ammo, here is a good deal:

http://www.slickguns.com/product/federa ... -rounds-92" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I just picked up a few...can't beat the price and you get a free ammo can out of it.

Its ugly cousin showed up this afternoon.

local ad from some duckbutter who must've used it in his marsh boat

looked terrible, functioned perfectly

disassembled, cleaned, lubed, shortened, dressed, cold blued

looks like the car gets its own scattergun

$100 :thumbs2:

Image

Think it's a candidate for a pistol grip? (who needs accuracy, right?)

Thanks, WB.

I'm making progress with my skills of calling my local gunsmith and having him do it right.

Now, that $100 special in black? I sawed and dressed that one myself after work this evening. :tiphat:

Seriously?

If so, I'll look into that, but don't want to spend more on a stock than I did on the entire gun. ;-)

#4 buckshot is the smallest I'm comfortable using for self defense. Birdshot will make a nasty surface wound but doesn't penetrate enough to provide a reliable stop.

Since I'm an apartment dweller and thus concerned about overpenetration, the first two rounds in the tube of my HD 870 are #4 buck, with the rest 00 buck. I have more 00 as well as slugs in the sidesaddle.
