Been reading posts for some time and thought I would introduce myself instead. I am a youngster at the age of 25 but am a Army (Airborne!) vet from Mosul, Iraq '03-'04 and am out now and about to finish my degree at UTSA. I am a liberal (I know, HERETIC!) haha but I am a TX liberal so I have found that has a different meaning, and as such I am a huge gun and 2nd amendment enthusiast and own a growing collection that currently consists of an AR-15 I built, Glock 27, Ruger LCP, and Walther P22. I daily carry the Glock with a Crossbreed IWB and love it...but can't wear pants all the time when it's a gorgeous 110 degree TX summer day so I have the LCP for shorts weather.
I am also introducing myself because I would like to get into hunting sometime but lack the experience to do it myself and am looking to maybe meet someone that would enjoy taking someone with them come hunting season time again. As far as I know there isn't a deer hunting dating site haha so I am just posting it here. Looking to probably pick up a DPMS .308 before then since I have experience with, and love the AR system so if anyone owns one and has feedback that is also appreciated.

Welcome !!!

Cargo Shorts 10 months a year here ...

Glock 26, cargo shorts, CompTac Velcro belt; Desantis Tuck This 2 in Summer/cooler than as hybrid... added Sticky-back Velcro under the J-clip

I'm not much of a hunter, shot at doves once, was a really fun time, but not into it often. I don't have an AR, might some day.

I agree with RPB about the cargo shorts. Thats what I wear when I go the shorts route. I can still utilize the Clip Draw system that way.
Hunting in Texas?!?! Hardly anyone hunts here anymore. They all go sit in a box or in a metal contraption mounted to a tree and watch a area that has been baited for deer to come to all year long. Anybody can do that as it takes absolutely no skill. Good luck to you anyway though.

Yea I agree with that. I unfortunately do mean hunting in the boring, sit in a box and stare at a baited corn feeder way. But would love to just learn the ropes so that someday I could go on my own and do some bow hunting more the way nature intended it...even if it is with a high powered compound bow ;) Maybe I should go find Ted Nugent, I think he is the only one in this state that still truly hunts haha.

Dude -- you used "liberal" (twice) and "gun and 2nd Amendment enthusiast" in the same sentence -- I thought the apocalypse was supposed to occur if that happened, like matter-antimatter, yet...nothing... hmmmm!!

I think that what often passes for a gun owning liberal in Texas is really just a libertarian with a socially liberal bent. That said, I'm like Paul in the Bible, who said (paraphrased), "who cares who it is preaching the gospel, as long as the gospel gets preached?" I'm a rock-ribbed conservative, but I'll hoist a beer with any self-described liberal who actively supports MY second amendment rights.

Welcome to the forum!

Glad to have another "young 'un" on board here too.

Don't worry about the "liberal" thing, we'll work on that. ;-)

Mosul 03-04 eh? I was Force Protection at Al Mosul Air field. Stationed in a Bradley right in front of the Eagle Div HQ. Who were you with?
