Guess I will be a guinea pig with this new Ruger. Called my local dealer this morning and he had just ordered two for his stock with no date on delivery or price. Told them that they were sold to to myself and a friend.

Have enough 1911s but the friend and I both have quite a few Ruger handguns and thought we should have these also. MSRP is $799 with one 7rd mag, one 8rd mag and soft case included. Pretty sure we will not have to pay MSRP as we both deal with this dealer quite a bit.

Will give a range report when they come in and pics someday when my son visits so he can post them for me. Now for a new owb holster to carry it in.

The price looks good, it would sell for the same as my Springfield PW9101LP (GI series stainless). I guess I'll have to get on the list to get one at my distributors.

It's about time! God I hope they don't make it in 10mm down the road if the .45acp takes off in the SR1911. Then I will be really broke because I will have to buy both! I love Ruger revolvers and I think I know what I might be buying next.

Investment cast frame, but slide, barrel, and bushing are machined. Wonder if the small parts (hammer, sear, slide stop, ejector, etc.) are cast, MIM, or forged . . .?

I just read a likely street price UNDER $575 for this SR1911 when it starts shipping. Which makes me very interested.

Being a 1911 novice I'm wondering how this gun (specs & components) compares to others from Springfield, Kimber, STI, Colt or others. Does it have equivalent bells & whistles compared to an STI Spartan? Trojan? Springfield GI? Loaded ? Any Kimber or Colt? What about Rock Island/Armscor offerings?

Just trying to find a way to compare apples to apples.

Also, anyone think there's any way Ruger makes this at this price point without MIM parts? Which parts would those likely be and how likely are they to cause problems? Are we talking key internal components? Or parts that are easily user replaceable?

Yeah, for that price I might have to break down and get one.

I have one too. Nork on the outside & all American on the inside. Ugly as June bug, reliable as my sweet wife, Runs like a sewing machine, eats anything in front of it like a teenage boy. Cant beat it for a battle gun.

May have to look at this Ruger though. Sure do like their wheel guns.

MIM parts - at that price I'm sure there would be, but I guess we'll have to wait and find out where they are. The whole pistol would seem to be sorta-kinda equivalent to a stainless Springfield Loaded, sans the ambi-safety and front cocking-serrations (which I've always hated anyway).

Andy, exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks. Gonna go do some head-to-head comparisons on spec sheets between SR1911 and SA Loaded.

I've been looking at three guns lately for my eventual 1911 purchase - STI Spartan or Trojan or SA Loaded. But think I'm going to have to add this SR1911 to the list.

And yes, I think Ruger may have just reset the price bar on a nicely outfitted 1911. Hard to even find a Springfield Mil-Spec or GI for less than $600 retail.

AustinRealtor have you read the article Andy referred to on gunblast.com? It may answer some of your questions. Also the STI Spartan is made in the Phillipines and not here, STI GPS-6 is made in Slovakia. The Ruger SR1911 should be all american make from what I can find.

What Andy said about Caspian frames is correct. They are by Pine Tree Casting which is owned by Ruger and I believe that for a while that Wilson frames were also done by PTC.

It should be an excellent firearm and just cannot wait for it to get here.
