Greetings!
I'm looking for a Rossi R92 levergun, in .357 Magnum, with the 24-inch barrel. Would prefer stainless, but I'm willing to go with a blued gun, if the price is right. Anyone wanna help a guy in San Antonio?
Thanks,
Dirty Bob

I don't think anyone should trust a guy named 'Dirty Bob'
Kidding aside, what range do you go to here in SA?

The name comes from a long time ago (~30 years). Dirty Bob Grundman was my character in a post-apocalyptic dice-and-paper roleplaying game called Aftermath.
I work in a field (education) where my name may be "googled" at any time, so I keep a fairly low profile with my hobbies.
I shoot at the SA Target, Hunting, and Fishing Club, on Hausman Rd., just east of Babcock. We have pistol, trap, and 50- and 100-yard rifle ranges. It's a private club, but you can come by on a Thursday night to see the place, meet the members, and shoot a round of trap if you want. It's a friendly group and a great location.
So, any word on a Rossi 92?
All my best,
DB

Lever guns by any manufacturer in .357mag are almost impossible to acquire especially is stainless. If you find two at a good price, let me know.

I've called Rossi and asked when they were going to produce more. The gun is in production, but they couldn't tell me more than that.
Davidson's was helpful, but basically echoed what RECIT said: the .357 levergun is one of the most popular firearms out there, right now. The Davidson's rep pointed out that the .45 Colt levergun is not in short supply, however.
Long and short, I've decided to "settle" for a .45 Colt. I like the caliber and already have made handloads for it. I'm investing in a couple of moulds to round out my bullet selection (I have a Lyman 255-gr. SWC, am buying a roundball mould, as well as a 300-grain, gas-checked RNFP with a very wide, flat face. The last two moulds are LEE).
The .45 "Long" Colt is an awesome caliber, and the new brass has a better rim than the old brass did, back in the days before CAS created an interest in a .45 lever action. With the venerable .45 Colt and a copy of one of John Moses Browning's greatest designs, I should be able to load anything from very quiet, short-range plinking loads to something that will put a pig down, and anything in between.
I've seen the nosebleed-high prices for .45 Colt in my local toy store, but the recent price hikes are a bit less painful for a reloader. I've got a lot of bullet casting to do, though!
I'm looking forward to shooting a .45 levergun and will keep my eyes open for a .357, once things settle down again.
Thanks to all,
Dirty Bob

Hey Bob,
Give Kurt @ Taranis Firearms a call. The guy is super nice and can order anything! His place is off of Broadway, right outside of 410.

If he can't get it, my fall back guy is Larry @ Gunwurkz.

He's up near Fair Oaks Ranch.

I've checked all over creation, and .357 leverguns are as scarce as an honest used car salesman. Just kidding!
Anyway, the more I thought about it, the more I liked the idea of a long-barreled .45 Colt levergun, so that's what I chose. I picked it up today, and I'm very, very pleased. I can't wait to start shooting it!
Regards,
Dirty Bob

congrats! And I understand why there aren't a lot of .357s on the market...I wouldn't sell mine for anything!
