I bought this online at Gunsamerica.com from a sporting goods store out of LA. Picked it up at Amory Management & Supply Services who I used as FFL dealer. I might have slight issue with seller....we'll see. The folks at AMSS couldn't have been better though! Great guys and the store is well stocked with various items. $15 FFL transfer fee was $20 cheaper than the guys on Huffmeister. Those from the NW side of Houston will know who I'm talking about.

Mine is minus the thumb safety but love it as well. Might be my favorite ( excepting my 1911's :clapping: )

You own both 1911's and the M&P in .45?

Would like to hear how they compare.

I have two M&P 9's and have considered the M&P .45.

Thanks

Not sure exactly what you'd like to know but....

The 1911 grip is a natural for me and the M&P nearly matches it plus there's the flexibility of different sized grip panels.

1911 trigger is better of course being a true single action but the M&P can be much improved by buying a replacement sear kit from Apex Tactical -> https://apextactical.com/store/product- ... cid11.html

M&P weights less (empty) than even my scandium SW1911 .

M&P has more capacity, 10 +1. Larger magwell makes reloads a bit quicker to those like me who aren't an expert.

M&P doesn't have a grip safety so there's no chance of that stopping the gun from firing in the case of a less than ideal grip, e.g. awkward position, injured hand, etc.

Neither gun causes any excess recoil for me but the polymer should, in theory, flex and absorb some of the thump.

Being polymer, the M&P allows the user to do his own stippling on the frame and grip insert for added traction by simply using a soldering iron.

Anyway, that's my two cent, for what it's worth.

The M&P .45 is a dream. My husband had a Kimber and I found it uncomfortable to shoot (and I'm not a recoil sissy). But the M&P .45 is wonderful. I picked up hubby's, fired it, and proclaimed, "I want one!"
