I am currently in the secure area of the San Antonio Airport, and am on my way to LA, and then on to San Fransisco to visit family. California, that means no reciprocity with Texas. As a matter of fact, I am almost scared to have my Texas CHL in my wallet for fear of what might happen when it hits California soil. (Hope it doesn't disintegrate). Having the pressure of the holster at my 3'o clock has become a sort of safety blanket in the last 2 months that I have been carrying. It feels wrong that I don't have my carry at my side (and wont for the next 7 days), almost like I forgot to put on underwear this morning.

On Thursday, I'm driving to California with my wife. I'll be packing along the way until just before crossing into California, at which point I'll case up the pistols. I am going to bring both my Texas and Utah licenses. We're going to be in California from the 21st to the 31st, and I too will feel nekkid. I'll be breathing a big sigh of relief when I get back into Arizona on the way home, and I can strap it on again.

BTW, this will be the first time since I was 8 years old that I'll be driving sections of Route 66 in both directions. We're planning on a 3 day drive each way, and can extend that if we have to.

i think you guys will be ok as long as you stay out of LA, oakland and the like. beyond those cities the worst thing you have to worry about is some hippie dropping a bong on your foot. ;)

Oh man why would you say that?! I land in LAX for a 1 hour lay over, and then the family I am visiting lives near Oakland....... Jeeze thanks man
