I saw an officer at ASC in Houston do this before. Plus he couldn't hit the target at 50 yards after he got it right, we were shooting the exact same rifles (except mine is left handed). He was like, "I think something is bent" lol

Stress is a powerful force. I hope it is a learning experience for her....heck, I hope that she knows something was wrong!

It may or may not fall out becuase there's usually some friction between the mag's sides and mag well plus the mag release latch. If fully loaded, it'll likely fallout, but it might be a slow sliding out kind of motion.

I agree...I know the magazine would not have even seated properly, and the fact that its still hanging on there is a miracle...

She must have given it a good pop up in the receiver (lower) to jam it up in there...I'm know that a well maintained AR won't have too many booger-boos to have any friction from the mag latch hold it (fully loaded magazine) up there for long...The curvature of the lower portion of the magazine probably helped keep it up in the receiver, as that part of the rifle aligns up with the "straight" portion of the mag to seat properly...The bend portion would allow it to be wedged up in there pretty good...

I'm surprised she's even standing up there ready to shoot...Or cover someone after this...Charging (unsuccessfully) that rifle would have been the second clue to her predicament...Cuz she's certainly ready to do something...How effective that was going to be, would have been up to the next few seconds I suppose...

But like someone said...Stress can bring out the most outrageous situations...I can guarantee this could happen to anyone...Even me!

I think this is another good illustration of a lesson learned...

Come to think of it...I can see the difficulties in the carrier bolt cycling all the way into battery...

But, considering that the carrier would have had to pick up the round (if it did at all) and put it into the chamber...

The odds of that being slim, I would think I would consider that weapon out of commission if she was fortunate to see this after the picture was taken...

I don't even think she would have gotten anything but a "click" if she did try to discharge the rifle...

I'm just leaning towards the idea that the magazine was not up there far enough to allow a round to even be picked up out of the magazine to be chambered, however feasable that theory could be discussed or reasoned out...

I'm not going to poke fun at her too much...Probably not at all...

The injury was probably to the dunderhead barricaded in that structure...
