51% Sign Improperly displayed?

Went to the 1894 OpryHouse in Galveston on Friday to see my daughters dance class perform. Much to my suprise I saw the 51% sign on the front door. Is this possible? They are a 501(c) so I looked up the latest tax return that is available. Here it is...
http://www.guidestar.org/FinDocuments/2 ... 1005-9.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Looks like they may be ~1.5% er.
Has anyone else seen anything like this before?
Thanks

they can't possibly make 51% of their revenue from alcohol. I did a public inquiry on TABC, it shows "no records found"

If you missed the thread, the TABC website now tells us if a licensed premises is 51% or not.

I did a Google search first to get the correct name, then I searched for "Opera House" in Galveston and it gave it to me the first time.

Just got back from the opry house. Confirmed that the sign is RED. 51% Give me a break. Maybe 51% get served Geritol. How & where do they get this sign. TABC site says it should be the blue. Shouldn't they post the 30-06 sign instead? Something stinks here.

IIRC TABC sends the same packet of signs out to all licensees, which sometimes results in the wrong sign getting posted. You can contact TABC and they will make sure the right sign is posted.
Regardless, the determination by TABC is what matters as far as the law, and that is why it is so useful that they finally started posting it on their website.

Whoa there hoss. They should not post a 30.06 and don't mention anything about a 30.06 sign to them if you contact them at all. I wouldn't. I would let the TABC know that this place has a red 51% sign posted.

Remember, it's only a defense to prosecution that the 51% is improperly posted you still have to obey it. Call TABC and have them set them straight.

C-dub I have no intention of educating them on 3006. I'm pretty sure they are already wise to it. I'm just saying it appears that they are anti CHL & the little 51% sign is less obtrusive & may seem more aesthetically pleasing to the managers than posting the big 3006. It does need correction though. Thanks to all.

Are you sure about this? The defense to prosecution is intended to apply when a chl carries in a 51% location without proper signage.
If it is not a 51% location, there is no violation, even if posted 51%.

Also on this, today I received my email alert from Texas3006.com, stating that The 1894 Grand was posted 30.06.....Coincidental? Was it reported to texas3006.com as it was 30.06 or is it really posted 30.06 or did someone post on texas3006.com that it was 30.06 when it really is posted 51% (even wrongly)?

I was there Friday & Today(Sunday). There is no 3006 today nor was there a 3006 on Friday. Just a red 51% taped to the front door. Thanks.

Very good. Until one has been on here a while we have no idea how knowledgeable a person is about the laws and the dos and don'ts of a licensee. The majority of my CHL knowledge has come from this forum. And I'm still learning all the time.
BTW, welcome to the Forum.
