Which .357 magnum 3 inch barrel revolver has the lowest weight stock trigger pull? I got a Smith & Wesson J Frame and the trigger pull is monstrously heavy. My trigger finger is sore after just a couple of shots and I can barely hit the broad side of a barn with it. The single action trigger is fine, but the hammer is so heavy that when practicing quick draw shots with it, I ripped open my thumb (ouch!).

Most DA trigger pulls are heavy. A good revolver smith can take the DA trigger down to an acceptable level without sacrificing reliability. Smith and Wesson's custom shop will tune it up for you for a reasonable price. Check their website.

OK, all double action revolvers have heavy trigger/hammer pulls. Well, what about single action revolvers? Which one has the lightest stock hammer cock? I heard that the Ruger Vaquero has a horrendous 14 lb hammer (rumor, if I am wrong, then correct me).

If you are going to compare single action revolvers, then you should compare the double action revolvers that are cocked and shot single action.

There is no way a Ruger Vaquero has a 14 lb trigger pull. I'd believe a 14 lb hammer spring, but that is different from the trigger pull.

Having the gun smoothed and tuned will make it easier to shoot. When I said most DA revolvers have heavy trigger pulls (8-10 pounds from the factory) I meant that in relation to a SA trigger pull. DA cocks the hammer, rotates the cylinder and trips the hammer all at the same time they aren't going to be as light as the SA pull or as light as the trigger on a semi auto. Practice and training is the key to master the DA revolver.

Teddy is the guy that did the ramp job on my Colt Officer a long time ago and it's been perfect ever since. It will feed empties now. He knows what he is doing.

In my experience, models with a leaf style mainspring have a lower pull weight and tend to smooth out very well over time.
