Hey guys just wanted to let everyone know that academy just dropped their price on some self defense ammo. Just picked up some hornady critical defense for 17.99 in .380, 25 rounds
Also got some PDX1's in 9mm for $18 a box.

Might want to test that Hornady CD ammo before you use it for PD. They been having issues with hard primers. See below:

Not trying to bad mouth Hornady CD, so Hornady lovers don't flame me. Just letting you know about some problems other people are having. I have never used Hornady CD ammo, so I have no experience with it, good or bad.

I've carried CD as well as TAPs in my .40's and my 1911 for about a year now and haven't had a problem with them. I always shoot the leftovers out of the box cause just like hot dogs and buns, the number of cartridges and capacity of your magazines never match up evenly to make sure they feed and function ok. I also put 50 rounds of Hornady FMJ's through my M&P 15 this weekend without a hitch (along with a box of 20 Monarch softpoints).

Like I said, I have no horse on this race. I have never used Hornady CD ammo so I don't have an opinion one way or another about it. I'm glad you have not had any issues with it, but if you read the post (first link), looks like the poster contacted Hornady and they were aware of the issue (see below)

"When I got home, I took some pics of the rounds and called Hornady. I was quickly transferred to a technical/design person. I explained what happened and he quickly set up a pickup for UPS to pick up the ammo, so they could examine it. When I gave him the lot number, he was surprised that it was this years production. He told me they had experienced some problems with hard primers last year and switched primers, which they thought resolved the issue. He told me he would be in touch once they got the rounds in-house. Overall I was very happy with their customer service, everyone was very courteous and professional. "

Just posted the links as a heads up to anyone who has Hornady CD ammo so that they can check it. Being in the middle of a situation when you need to use your gun is not the time to find out you have bad ammo.
