PORTER — Police are searching for a home invasion suspect who was shot by an east Montgomery County homeowner early today.

The homeowner fired several shots at the masked gunman when the suspect fled on foot after taking money from the homeowner and two female family members, said Montgomery County Sheriff's officials.

The aggravated robbery happened about 12:30 a.m in the 19000 block of Laurette Drive. The suspect confronted the homeowner outside the home and demanded money. The suspect then forced the 61-year-old homeowner inside the house and demanded money from the other two women, ages 59 and 38, police said.

Investigators believe at least one bullet from the homeowner's pistol struck the suspect because he left a trail of blood, sheriff's spokesman Lt. Dan Norris said.

''There was a considerable amount of blood over a large distance, so somebody is hurt and bleeding substantially," Norris said.

Anyone with information about the suspect should contact the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office at 936-760-5876 or 936-760-5800.

Montgomery County Crime Stoppers will pay up to $1,000 cash reward for information leading to an arrest or indictment. Crime Stoppers can be reached at 800-392-7867."

An early report... looks like it might be a marginal shoot... athough as an "aggravated robbery" it might have been very justified.

He recieved a little more that he wanted, didn't he? I'm glad the homeowner and friends were unharmed.

Once again...the BGs didn't stop by for tea...you can kinda tell b/c the guy was wearing a mask. Drinking tea with a mask covering your face make it a bit difficult to be quite socialable.
...the homeowner was taken from outside house, back into his house by the BGs; where there were two women family members residing. I did not read the full article...but, pulling the pieces together- looks rather justified to me (the paper's writer reported it was an ag robbery (presumably what the LEO are initially calling it- It may very well be filed differently) , however, IANAL.

Go Castle Doctrine!!

TV last night was playing the 911 call and the woman was understandably excited.

Afterwards she credited her praying for causing the BG to run from the house. Although a worthy endeavor, I kinda think it had more to do with her husband shooting at him.

Of course, maybe that's how He answered her prayers.
