Story here:
The Senate has already passed their version of it. Now goes to conference committee.
I wonder if Sen. Davis is regretting her filibuster yet. They're passing the same 4 billion in cuts she killed in the regular session, plus alot of the other controversial stuff the Democrats were previously successfully able block!

Read the comments posted for that article. There seems to be quite a few people out there who think we should spend money that we do not have. I bet you they are the same ones who have mounds of outstanding credit card debt and are upside down on their houses because they bought above their means. People are resilient, there is statistical evidence that those who are motivated succeed in spite of adverse conditions. People are blaming teachers and a budget cuts for problems that were created in the home by ignorant parents.

I'm in favor of saving money. Too bad they're not interested in saving lives by passing campus carry.

This way she can continue posturing by saying she did all she could.

If you delve into the statistics behind the escalating year-on-year costs of Texas major metropolitan school districts, you'll see why the property taxes you and I pay can't keep up with the pace.

I don't need the statistics...I can see why their costs are escalating every time I drive by one of their brand new football stadiums!

The evidence I see says the public schools have lots of money. If they don't spend that money wisely, there are many good solutions but none involve giving them more money to spend on frills.

Rusk, TX, population about 3,700, has a new deluxe track around its football field. The new track only cost about $1.4 million! What's the problem?
