This is a perfect example of AEAs point in another thread in the politics section. Its not the fault of the corrupt agency letting guns get smuggled, its the fault of the Constitution and US gun owners. got it.

We'll get a grip on those guns right after they stop all the drugs pouring in...

Oh yeah, that's our fault for buying them.

They have moved a lot of the grow operations up here, and ship merchandise instead of money back.

I can see why it's so crucial to support groups like the NRA now. We're getting hammered from every front
by people with no morals who will use any lie they can to twist things to get their way.

I guess that is like me blaming the First Amendment for people like Cummings making it to Washington. :headscratch

They could likely make a huge dent in the proliferation of "military grade assualt weapons" in Mexico by simply curtailing sales to a number of Central and South American governments under the Foreign Military Sales program.

I think if Mexico was to secure their side of the border then nothing would get across. Well at least 1 direction.

I'm currently re-reading an old book by Texan author J. Frank Dobie, titled "A Vaquero of the Brush Country"...and in it there is a chapter or two about the lawlessness, rustling and banditry that was waged against the citizens of Texas, Anglo and Hispanic, back in the late 1850s to late 1870s...it took the Rangers and the US Army, coupled with a fed-up citizenry AND a stronger Presidente in Mexico to get it under control...the parallels are astounding. For many of those years, especially during the Civil War and Reconstruction, the corrupt government of Mexico not only overlooked, but encouraged those heinous actions. While, of course, blaming "evil" Texans for starting the problems...I'm pretty sure, now as then, that only a concerted effort by our law enforcement, citizenry, and Federal government as well as a change of leadership in Mexico will get this problem under control. And we all know that isn't going to happen during the term of this current administration...

"No legitimate examination of this issue will be complete without analyzing our nation’s administration, which allow tens of thousands of assault weapons to flood into Mexico from the United States every year, including fifty caliber sniper rifles, multiple AK variants, and scores of others."
There, fixed it for him.

Will Holder be held responsible for this mess?

That would sure be nice to see.... "Justice at Justice".

He claims to have not authorized it. That is double speak. It is intended to be heard as "I did now know about this." It actually translates as "I am not the one who authorized it," with an additional subtext of "but I did know about it."

Later, when the press tries to call him out for lying about it (at least, when those members of the press who still hold onto journalistic integrity try to call him out for lying about it), he can say, "I didn't say I didn't know about it. I said I did not authorize it." Then the legitimate question will become, "Well who did authorize it then?" If he says, "I don't know," the the legitimate question is, "how could the top person at Justice be so incurious?" If he says that he does know, then the legitimate question becomes, "who is it?" If he doesn't spill the beans, then this administration is out of business, because Iran Contra was one thing, but here we're talking about destabilizing our neighbor. It ain't gonna fly.

This is a corrupt administration, and they are backfilling as fast as they can. It is my most fervent prayer that the electorate cuts off the fuel supply to their back-hoe.
