One of my coworkers, and fellow gear heads, recently picked up a Wilson Combat CQB. It is gorgeous. He shot a group at 7 yds that I could not fit my fist through. The thing just feels so smooth. The lock up is perfect, the trigger only moves rearward, and breaks cleanly and crisply. I want...but house, wedding, honeymoon, and motorcycle are next on the list.

Is he using it as a duty gun?

Watch out for the kids, they can quickly deplete a gun budget too.

Wait a minute! Check to see if Wilson Combat has a wedding registry listing, then you can get one as a wedding present.

But I know the feeling. I've wanted a Wilson Super Grade for at least six years now. Just ain't in the immediate future...

I had to do a search to see what a Wilson CombatCQB was.....WOW!!! That looks nice and the MSRP reflects as much. Who wouldn't want one of those???

Truer words have never been spoken. Based on my budget projections my next purchase is over a year away!

I'm hoping for this Fiscal Year. I also need to finance the CHL class and application so it's going to be tough. Especially when my wife loves buying baby girl clothes and the pipsqueak is going through diapers like I would like to go through ammo.

Not as a duty gun - we are issued guns. But I wouldn't carry it as a duty gun. First shooting you get in that gun goes to an evidence locker for a long time.

So just wait until your second shooting.

To each their own... IMO forget the motorcycle and get a Wilson. They are amazing handguns. The Wilson is a fraction of the price and will last a lifetime.

You ever try parking on A&M's campus? It is a headache. On a bike, I can pull right up to the bldg I need.

The higher end guns are nice. I personally prefer Ed Brown and Springfield Custom over Wilson. But, all 1911s in this price range and category are super, super sweet.

That they can......every time I take mine to the range my stock of ammo depletes dramatically....

Some years ago I took a high-round-count class and several of the other folks were using Wilsons . . . by the second day, they all had band-aids all over their hands - too many sharp edges. How was the CQB for general handling?

For a list price of $2550, one could get an Ed Brown Kobra or Special Forces and have money left over . . . or a Les Baer Premier II or TRS and have more money left over.

And any of these would trump the Wilsons I've seen.

Not that Wilsons are bad . . . it's just that the way they're priced today, better values in upper-end 1911s abound.

(And at 7 yards, "fist sized" groups aren't particularly impressive unless the magazine was emptied in <2 seconds or so.)
