I just bought an almost brand new (it looks unfired) winchester 94AE 30-30 trapper for $350 shipped.

this is the 16" barrel, receiver ring, and tang safety. is that worth $350 shipped?

my wife is a little perturbed at my purchase. please give me something to tell her i got a deal. otherwise, support her argument, i'll hang my head in shame and take my medicine.

The Blue Book of Gun Values, 27th ed, shows $360 in 100%, $275 in 98% condition.

Having said that, the next gun show after the news that most of Winchester's models had been discontinued, prices increased up to double, in some cases. That was to take advantage of the panic buying.

Prices have settled somewhat, but are still considerably higher than before the news.

In this area, I am surprised you were able to buy one for $350.

You might include in your argument that they really don't make them anymore.

i was in line to get a winchester 94 ranger (20" barrel) back in january/february, but the orders were all canceled because of the plant closing. i was going to pay $289 for a new one. i don't know what the trappers were going for then, but i found a few used ones on gunbroker for $600. i think that's ridiculous. i've found several trappers, all going for quite a bit, but they were in pistol cartridges. i have to have a rifle in a rifle cartridge. plus, i'm going to start using it to deer hunt. i got rid of my marlin 30-30 because the action was so stiff, and i wanted something smaller. i went hunting this weekend with a savage 10FP and an 03A3...so much for going smaller. i usually hunt with a remington 600 in 6mm that has an 18.5" barrel, but it's an older rifle that my grandfather gave my brother and i. i don't want to jack it up.

my wife thinks me paying $350 for a gun i could have bought new for less than $300 is stupid. i don't think they were less than $300 new. retail was listed at $470 on the winchester site, so i think $350 isn't bad. this is what i bought.

As clean as I've ever seen!

Three years ago, I paid $349 for a 94AE in .45 Colt.

The Ranger was a low end model and would have been less expensive than the Trapper.

You did very good!

I paid 250 for one 18 years ago but it came with a good hard case.

Now that is a beautiful rifle......the wood on that is fantastic!

I am not aware of even the approximate value of those outside of the comments made in this thread, but I'd say you got a heck of a deal!

You got a good deal.

I enjoy mine very much, same model as your's. Traded an old, very worn out Ubertti single action for it straight up not long before the big Winchester closing.

Enjoy it!
